China's "Requirements for Restricted Use of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products"
To implement the relevant requirements of the "Administrative Measures for the Restriction of the Use of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products" and the "Implementation Arrangements for the Conformity Assessment System for the Restriction of the Use of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products," control and reduce environmental pollution and human health hazards caused by discarded electrical and electronic products, promote clean production and comprehensive resource utilization in the electrical and electronic industry, encourage green consumption, protect the environment and human health, enhance the awareness and level of green production among electrical and electronic companies, and promote high-quality development of the industry, China, with reference to relevant international standards, regulatory requirements, and industry practices, has issued GB 26572-2025, "Requirements for Restricted Use of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products," on August 1, 2025. This document replaces GB/T 26572-2011 and will officially come into effect on August 1, 2027.
The content of lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenyl ethers, di-n-butyl phthalate, diisobutyl phthalate, butyl benzyl phthalate and di(2-ethyl)hexyl phthalate in electrical and electronic products should be divided into Class I (products included in the "Catalogue of Electrical and Electronic Products for the Management of Hazardous Substances Restricted Use") according to the classification of electrical and electronic products and the requirements for restricted use of hazardous substances. They should comply with the relevant standards such as Chapter 5 of the requirements for the restriction of the use of hazardous substances and the labeling requirements in Chapter 6; and Class II (products not included in the "Catalogue of Electrical and Electronic Products for the Management of Hazardous Substances Restricted Use") should comply with the labeling requirements in Chapter 6 of the requirements for restricted use of hazardous substances.
HPE products currently fall into Category II (products not included in the "Catalogue of Compliance Management for the Restriction of the Use of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products").

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
What HPE products are covered by China RoHS 2 labeling requirements?
China's definition of EEP is very broad, ranging from whole products to components/parts to materials. It also covers a vast range of product categories, from electronic radar products, electronic communication products, broadcasting and television products, computer products, household electronic appliances, electronic surveying instruments, to specialized electronic products. HPE's products are covered by China RoHS 2 labeling requirements.
Where will the “EEP Pollution Control Mark” be displayed on HPE branded products?
Typically you will find the EEP Pollution Control Mark located with the other regulatory/agency labels on the product.
Which HPE products carry the “e” logo and which products carry the “EPUP” logo?
For purposes of China RoHS 2 labeling, the majority of HPE brand products will carry the “EPUP” logo. This is because China does not recognize the EU RoHS material application exemptions for purposes of labeling.
Why does my service part have a different EPUP code than that of my product?
To effectively and consistently manage the requirements to meet the China RoHS 2 Legislation, HPE spare parts sold in the People's Republic of China (in support of HPE Products), will take a standardized and conservative approach. As a result, the spare part documentation may state a shorter EPUP than that stated on the product or in the China RoHS 2 user documentation that accompanied the product.
