HPE Living Progress

Living Progress is HPE's strategy to advance the way people live and work. We are working to create more sustainable IT solutions that aim to meet the technology demands of a resource-constrained future, while fueling responsible innovation in our global communities.

Advancing responsible IT

HPE is dedicated to offering IT solutions that help customers and partners responsibly drive value under growing energy constraints, navigate increasingly complex global regulatory environments, and deepen their social impact commitments. From leveraging data-driven insights to lifecycle optimization, our portfolio is rooted in a holistic, efficiency-first approach that accounts for mounting resource constraints and the increasing demands of AI workloads across the full stack.

IT Sustainability Solutions

In a resource-constrained world, IT efficiency is increasingly essential. Improving energy and resource efficiency can help organizations with their efforts to strengthen performance and costs outcomes today, building a stronger foundation for AI, and scale for the future. HPE brings together innovation across the IT lifecycle to help customers use resources more efficiently, navigate energy constraints, and progress their own IT sustainability goals.

Enabling efficient transformation

We aim to become a net‑zero enterprise by 2040, with interim 2030 targets across our value chain. We focus on the three areas where we can have the greatest impact: (1) improving the resource efficiency of the infrastructure we deliver; (2) deepening supplier engagement to reduce energy use and emissions in our value chain; and (3) decarbonizing our operations while supporting the addition of clean energy capacity to the grid.

Climate targets

  • 70%

reduction in Scope 1&2 emissions from 2020-2030

  • 42%

reduction in Scope 3 emissions from 2020-2030

  • Net 0

Optimized lifecycle

Enterprises are hitting resource limitations as they try to scale, facing growing pressure from energy availability, supply chain constraints, and rising infrastructure demands. There has never been a better time to remove resource inefficiencies across the entire IT product lifecycle.

HPE is committed to helping you make end-to-end choices from design to operation to end of life, optimizing the asset lifecycle and reuse of assets.

HPE takes a data-driven approach to focus our efforts on initiatives that will have the most significant impact on mitigating our environmental footprint.

This commitment, and the technological and engineering innovations it has spurred, is already delivering benefit to our customers: pairing reduced energy and resource consumption, and associated cost, with greater performance.

Social impact

AI and emerging technologies are reshaping communities and creating new opportunities to address some of the world's most pressing challenges. HPE and the HPE Foundation work with partners across sectors to build lasting capabilities, shared infrastructure, and meaningful impact in three key areas: community resiliency, healthcare, and human rights.

Helping fight forced labor

Upholding human rights is embedded in the way we do business. Guided by our Global Human Rights Policy and international standards, we work to identify, prevent, and address human rights risks across our operations, products, supply chain, and broader value chain. Through strong governance, supply chain responsibility, industry collaboration, transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement, we strive to create positive impact while advancing innovation responsibly. Beyond our own business, HPE is using data and technology to help identify, prevent, and address forced labor as a founding partner of the World Economic Forum's Global Data Partnership Against Forced Labour (GDPFL), a cross-sector initiative that uses technology and data to help identify, prevent, and address forced labor risks in global supply chains.
