Our mission
HPE Foundation's mission is to deploy skills, resources, and technology to address social challenges and advance the way people live and work.
HPE Accelerating Impact
In 2019, the HPE Foundation launched HPE Accelerating Impact to engage team members in supporting tech non-profits, who are building original hardware or software to achieve social impact missions. We partner with Fast Forward for this flagship initiative. Across 4 years, the initiative has mobilized $5+ million of HPE Foundation funding to support these tech non-profits, who have positively benefited more than 360 million lives.
A force for good
We believe that, together, we can be a force for good, and that technology has the potential to enable greater efficiencies, mitigate social inequities, and drive better solutions to the world’s most complex challenges.
Advancing healthcare
The HPE Foundation is committed to leveraging our technology potential to support non-profits saving lives and advancing healthcare globally.
American Red Cross
The American Red Cross (ARC), which contributes 40% of our nation’s donated blood to hospitals and other care providers, stated this past year that the organization is facing its worst blood shortage in over a decade.
The solution? Working together with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), on its NextGen AI-driven blood management system, the ARC is now able to better predict demand, organize the appropriate number of blood drives, and efficiently manage its current inventory to reduce waste and encourage more accurate orders.
What started as a pro-bono collaboration between the ARC and HPE, showing the value of integrating external data sources and innovative machine learning techniques to improve the management of the blood supply chain, is today showing immense success. Currently, the advanced machine learning model developed by HPE has already outperformed prior models by 79%, and the ARC is able to better predict demand, organize the appropriate number of blood drives and social events to gather product, and efficiently manage their current inventory to reduce waste and encourage more accurate orders.

Sustainability Subscribed
HPE has partnered with Village Capital, an organization that supports impact-focused early-stage startups, and Zuora, a software company that supports businesses with recurring revenue models, to provide financial support and mentorship to entrepreneurs developing sustainability and climate solutions deployed as-a-service that are focused on underserved communities. Sustainability Subscribed is geared toward readying founders to attract capital by increasing the investment readiness of their solutions and business models.
LabStart
Drawing on HPE’s longstanding work with the U.S. Department of Energy, LabStart will extend access to the Department’s state-of-the-art national labs to diverse entrepreneurs to accelerate the development of their climate tech innovations into market-ready solutions. This program will help develop a larger pipeline of talented, diverse entrepreneurs, including those from non-traditional backgrounds. LabStart also aims to reduce friction to commercializing lab technology by helping entrepreneurs overcome structural, policy, and financial barriers.
Red Cross Disaster Responder Program
When it comes to disasters, preparedness is key. Through our longstanding support of the Red Cross Disaster Responder Program, HPE Foundation leverages resources to address all phases of a given disaster – from preparedness to immediate response, all the way through long-term recovery.
Natural Resources Defense Council Climate Resilience Programs
Climate plays an instrumental role in the frequency and severity of disasters and crises disrupting the lives of communities around the world. HPE Foundation partners with the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) to address the importance of climate resiliency, reduce communities' vulnerability to the impacts of climate change, and help manage recovery and rebuilding in the aftermath of climate-related disasters.
DEI and human rights
Curated pathways to innovation
HPE Foundation is the founding funder of Curated Pathways to Innovation (CPI), a learning platform powered by AI and machine learning that helps to set girls and underrepresented minorities on the path to STEM careers.
