Overview
This course provides clear, practical guidance for achieving excellence in digital service management, aligned with the ITIL framework. It focuses on aligning people, processes, and technology across the full-service lifecycle to strengthen resilience, improve responsiveness, and drive customer satisfaction.
This course prepares you to take the ITIL® Service Version 5 examination. It includes all assessment criteria and an official PeopleCert exam voucher.
Audience
This course is ideal for professionals who design, deliver, operate, support, and improve digital services end-to-end. This includes delivery/management, product and digital delivery, service design/architecture, and development teams working with operations. It is best suited for those focused on service quality and levels, reliability, governance, service relationships, and continual improvement.
Prerequisites
Before attending this course, you should have:
- The ITIL® Foundation (Version 5) OR ITIL® 4 Foundation certificate is required as the prerequisite for ITIL®Service (Version 5) and higher‑level qualifications
- Mandatory accredited training (via an accredited training organization or ITIL® Official eLearning) before you can sit the ITIL®Service (Version 5) exam
- If you hold ITIL® 4 Foundation, PeopleCert and HPE provide an optional ITIL®Foundation Bridge (Version 5) transition route if you want to update to Foundation (Version 5). (Note: this bridge course and exam will be offered for a limited period only.)

After completing this course, you should be able to:
- Understand core concepts of digital products and services
- Explain the ITIL Product & Service Lifecycle Model (scope, purpose, benefits, challenges)
- Show how value chain activities and management practices enable lifecycle delivery
- Apply each lifecycle activity: purpose, steps, roles, outputs, CSFs, and metrics
- Describe how operating models and value streams support digital service management
- Understand how AI, automation, PRINCE2, and DevOps enhance lifecycle delivery
Certifications and related exams
This course prepares you for the following:
- The ITIL® Service (Version 5) certificate from PeopleCert
- This course contributes to the ITIL Managing Professional (MP) pathway when combined with ITIL® Product, ITIL® Experience, and ITIL® Transformation qualifications.
- This course also contributes to the ITIL® Master (Version 5) designation
