HPE Networking Workshops
Customer success stories
HPE Networking Workshops are designed to meet the precise needs of our customers. The workshops deliver content specific to the customer’s organizational and networking environments, including multivendor products and business objectives. This targeted training, featuring only content that is wholly relevant to the customer’s configuration, offers greater benefit, reduces training time, and increases return on investment (ROI).
Each HPE Networking Workshop explores the features and functionality of the customer’s network architecture to help support, troubleshoot, and plan for their environment.
-
In the vast experience of Hewlett Packard Enterprise with customers over the years, we have identified a core set of needs, which we aim to address with each HPE Networking Workshop.
- Customer-specific networking environment: Workshops are conducted in the customer’s environment, or a replica of their environment, so they immediately understand and learn about the environment they need to support.
- Customer-specific focus: The customer chooses the focus of the training at every step. From creating the agenda to each day’s delivery, the customer is in control of the topics covered and the amount of time devoted to each topic.
- Customer-driven timeline: The customer chooses the timeline. Training is scheduled when skills are needed and when customer resources are available.
- Customer-specific content: Workshops are designed around the customer’s specific needs. Customers learn what they need to learn, rather than what is in a prescribed course.
- Disparate skill levels: Within teams, knowledge and skill levels vary. HPE identifies the needs of various learning groups and designs the workshop to address different skill levels.
- Existing job demands: Managing the needs of a full-time job while learning new skills can be challenging. Our workshops are effectively designed to accommodate the students’ needs to do the day job while learning the next job.
- Cost-effectiveness: We provide the right solution at the right price. Customers pay for what they need to know and when they need to know it.

Customer situation
In a phased deployment, over several years, a government agency was implementing an HPE Aruba Networking environment including:
- HPE Aruba Networking Wireless Operating System (AOS-10) gateways
- HPE Aruba Networking Central
- HPE Aruba Networking CX Switches and HPE Networking Comware Switch Series
- HPE Intelligent Management Center (IMC)
With support personnel distributed across regional centers, training was required throughout deployment to keep pace with the development of the team and the growth of the network.
Workshop solution
A series of HPE Networking Workshops were delivered throughout the period of engagement using the agency’s equipment. This approach allowed the customer to meet their needs at the precise time required, resulting in a more efficient and less disruptive training solution. Sessions included whiteboarding the network architecture from the edge to core.

Customer situation
A major university was running a proof of concept prior to full deployment across campus. Their environment included:
- AOS-10 gateways
- HPE Aruba Networking ClearPass Policy Manager
- HPE Aruba Networking Central
- HPE Aruba Networking CX Switches
- HPE IMC
The deployment was being managed by their partner in two phases—wireless followed by wired.
In preparation for the deployment of their wireless environment, the university needed a group of six people to understand and support the configuration in order to have well-informed and constructive engagement with their deployment partner.
Workshop solution
To accommodate the needs of the customer, HPE delivered two identical HPE Networking Workshops by connecting to the proof of concept setup. Each workshop was three days in duration. The workshops offered an excellent learning opportunity as the university teams were able to connect to their live environment, understand the relevant configuration, and troubleshoot the issues live. A similar approach will be delivered in preparation for deployment of their wired environment.

Customer situation
The customer was migrating their entire network from Cisco to HPE Aruba Networking over a period of three years. Skilled in Cisco, the customer wanted to understand HPE Aruba Networking architecture, setup, and configuration. The first phase, migrating from Cisco wired to HPE Aruba Networking CX Switches / HPE Networking Comware Switch Series wired, involved supporting a four-person team.
Workshop solution
The HPE Networking Workshop was delivered using the customer’s proof of concept environment. The customer’s initial request was to understand HPE Aruba Networking switches. However, as the training progressed, the instructor identified the integration between wired switches and wireless controllers, including HPE Aruba Networking ClearPass Policy Manager authentication. By expanding the training to include these additional factors, the customer gained a full understanding of the solution—from edge to core. A similar workshop is planned for the wireless phase of the implementation.
