HPE Command View for Tape Libraries (CVTL) provides centralized management for all HPE MSL Tape Libraries, allowing remote configuration, monitoring, and diagnostics from anywhere. CVTL serves as the core platform that integrates with licensed features such as TapeAssure Advanced and Data Verification. It offers a streamlined, centralized interface that simplifies daily operations and makes it easier to manage complex tape environments across multiple locations. CVTL is easy to install and acts as the launch point for advanced features that improve overall library efficiency and insight.
HPE StoreEver TapeAssure Advanced provides predictive health monitoring for drives and cartridges, performance and utilization reporting, and proactive alerts to help identify and resolve potential issues before they affect operations. TapeAssure Advanced supports smooth operations with clear insights into tape drive and media health, enabling proactive maintenance and planning.
HPE StoreEver Data Verification ensures that critical data stored on LTO tapes remains readable and restorable. It runs non-disruptive, proactive scans of tape cartridges to check data integrity, catching potential issues early. Data Verification gives you confidence in your backups and helps ensure successful restores when critical data is required.

Simplified Library Management
CVTL provides a centralized console to configure, manage, and monitor all tape libraries. This allows for oversight and control of your entire tape environment, simplifying management across multiple libraries from a single interface.
The CVTL dashboard , fully integrated with TapeAssure Advanced and Data Verification provides users with tools to simplify the management of their library such as library partitioning. Partitioning allows a single physical library to be divided into multiple virtual libraries, each appearing as an independent library to the host. Each partition has its own set of media and can run different ISV (Independent Software Vendor) software, providing greater flexibility and allowing for optimized use of the MSL library resources.
Proactive Peace of Mind
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) provides an additional layer of defense and improves security by isolating, protecting, and segregating critical data from unauthorized access.
The licensed features HPE StoreEver TapeAssure Advanced and Data Verification provide analytical reporting tools that give users peace of mind by knowing how their tape environment is performing.
TapeAssure Advanced continuously tracks health, performance, and utilization of tape drives and cartridges, identifying issues before they impact operations. The CVTL dashboard displays this information in both summary and detailed formats, with easy-to-read pie charts showing the proportion of hardware in healthy, warning, or critical status—based on real-time performance metrics. Users can drill down to view the health and performance of individual drives and cartridges to pinpoint exactly where in the library issues are occurring, or where performance and utilization can be improved. Without having to log on, users can receive weekly status updates via email on the libraries, drives, and tapes managed by CVTL and in use over the last seven days.
Data Verification ensures the reliability of archived data by proactively scanning LTO tapes in HPE MSL3040 and MSL6480 tape libraries to confirm that stored business-critical information remains healthy and restorable.Proactive detection of data integrity issues reduces the likelihood of restore failures and reinforces long-term data resilience. Scans run non-disruptively in the background, without impacting host applications, and automatically alert users if data migration is recommended. Data Verification supports both encrypted and non-encrypted tapes written in LTFS format, and it tracks verification history over time—allowing users to monitor changes in data integrity throughout the life of each cartridge.
Predictive Analytics
HPE Command View for Tape Libraries (CVTL) delivers powerful predictive analytics through continuous monitoring of tape library activity, helping users understand how their environment is being utilized over time. This data-driven insight allows for smarter planning and resource allocation, reducing guesswork and supporting proactive decision-making. The Capacity Planning page complements this by showing write activity and weekly usage summaries over the past eight weeks, helping identify trends and forecast future needs. With these tools, users can anticipate when to add drives or media, ensuring their tape infrastructure stays aligned with evolving demands.
