HPE ProLiant Compute EL240 Gen12 brings enterprise-class compute and GPU acceleration to demanding edge environments.
Overview
Purpose-built rugged edge compute with the expansion and acceleration capabilities required for demanding edge workloads.
The HPE ProLiant Compute EL240 Gen12 is a ruggedized, expansion-focused compute sled designed for edge environments where traditional datacenter servers are impractical or unable to operate reliably. Installed within the HPE ProLiant Compute EL2000 chassis, the EL240 combines enterprise-class compute, storage, networking, and GPU acceleration capabilities in a compact form factor optimized for Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP) constrained deployments.
Powered by Intel® Xeon® 6 processors and supporting high-speed NVMe storage, the EL240 is designed for compute-intensive edge applications including AI inferencing, video analytics, industrial automation, telecommunications, virtualization, and mission-critical edge computing workloads. Unlike the EL220, the EL240 adds PCIe expansion and GPU support, enabling customers to deploy more demanding acceleration and I/O-intensive workloads at the edge.
The EL240 is engineered for demanding deployment environments and supports configurable thermal operating envelopes, ruggedization options, and enterprise-grade management capabilities. As with all EL2000 family platforms, compute, GPU, thermal, storage, and networking capabilities are configuration dependent and should be aligned with workload and environmental requirements.
Enterprise-class security and remote management for distributed edge deployments.
The HPE ProLiant Compute EL240 Gen12 combines HPE iLO 7, Silicon Root of Trust, HPE OneView, and HPE Compute Ops Management to provide secure lifecycle management for distributed edge environments. Organizations can monitor system health, manage firmware, perform remote administration, and maintain consistent operational control across geographically dispersed deployments without requiring dedicated on-site IT resources.
Designed for remote and infrastructure-constrained installations, the EL240 allows administrators to deploy, update, monitor, and troubleshoot systems using the same enterprise management tools and operational practices used within the datacenter. Flexible GPU, storage, networking, and expansion options enable customers to optimize configurations for their specific workload requirements while maintaining a consistent management and security experience across the environment.
Form Factor
HPE ProLiant Compute EL240 Gen12 plugs into the HPE ProLiant Compute EL2000 Chassis.

Configuration Information
| This section lists some of the steps required to configure a Factory Integrated Model. To ensure only valid configurations are ordered, Hewlett Packard Enterprise recommends the use of a Hewlett Packard Enterprise approved configurator. Contact your local sales representative for information on configurable product offerings and requirements. If you want to configure a server sled only, proceed to Step 2. | |
Step 1: Base Configuration (Choose System)
| HPE ProLiant EL2000 Chassis | |
| Description | SKU |
| HPE ProLiant Compute EL2000 Chassis | P90379-B21 |
| Notes: – Refer to the EL2000 documentation for details on how to configure the chassis. – https://h20195.www2.hpe.com/v2/getdocument.aspx?docname= – Functional systems require a minimum of one (1) power supply. Many supported configurations require two (2) power supplies for normal operation. – The EL2000 chassis does not provide a dedicated power supply redundancy mode. Supported power delivery is dependent upon chassis, sled, and workload configuration. – Due to the power requirements of certain EL220 and EL240 configurations, operation with a single power supply may limit supported hardware options, reduce performance, or prevent normal system operation. – HPE recommends two (2) power supplies for the broadest configuration support and maximum available system power. | |
Step 2: Select ProLiant Server
| HPE Proliant EL240 1U Server (Min:1, Max:1) | |
| Description | SKU |
| HPE ProLiant Compute EL240 Gen12 Configure-to-order Server | P90381-B21 |
| Notes: – Each server operates independently. – All EL240 Gen12 CTO Server models require the selection of Processor, Memory, Network Adapter, and Storage. Backplane selections are available for 2x EDSFF drives, OCP3 Slot, or NS204i-MFF boot device. – Optional PCIe riser supports two (2) PCIe slots. | |
Step 3: Choose Required Options (per sled)
| Processor Option (Min: 1, Max: 1) | |
| Intel® Xeon 6® Efficient-Core (E-Core) Performance per Watt Processors | SKU |
| Intel Xeon 6740E 2.4GHz 96-core 250W Processor for HPE | P71119-B21 |

| Intel Xeon 6740P 2.1GHz 48-core 270W Processor for HPE | P73829-B21 |
| Intel® Xeon 6® Performance-Core (P-Core) Processors | SKU |
| Intel Xeon 6507P 3.5GHz 8-core 150W Processor for HPE | P74504-B21 |
| Intel Xeon 6517P 3.2GHz 16-core 190W Processor for HPE | P74507-B21 |
| Intel Xeon 6527P 3.0GHz 24-core 255W Processor for HPE | P74570-B21 |
