Service planning

An HPE service specialist will contact the Customer to schedule the delivery of the services and validate that all predelivery requirements and prerequisites have been or will be met prior to software installation. During this service planning activity, the HPE service specialist will work remotely with the Customer to plan all the necessary activities. They will:

  • Communicate and verify the hypervisor, hardware, software, driver, and environmental prerequisites required for the installation of HPE GreenLake Flex Solutions built for Nutanix System software.
  • Collect, using a predelivery checklist, the information needed to plan the deployment, including confirmation that the server firmware is supported and determination of any steps needed to bring them within specifications, if applicable, prior to delivery of the software installation services.
  • Preinstall verification that the proposed network configuration meets product specifications.
  • Preinstall verification on the software configuration, subject to any limitations as described in this data sheet and review of the service deployment activities.
  • Schedule the service delivery at a time mutually agreed upon by Hewlett Packard Enterprise and the Customer, which shall be during local HPE standard business days and hours, excluding HPE holidays.

Service deployment

The remote service deployment activities will include the following tasks:

  • Setup, installation, and configuration—HPE professionals will deploy the HPE GreenLake Flex Solutions built for Nutanix System software and configure system settings, Nutanix Cluster deployment and configuration for the firmware, AOS, and AHV.
  • Hypervisor virtual switch configuration (up to two virtual switches and five port groups or VLANs).
  • Prism Central deployment/integration.
  • Download and install selected optional Nutanix software, if included with the HPE GreenLake Flex Solutions built for Nutanix System software as set forth under the SOW, for example, this may include, as follows: Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure, Nutanix Cloud Manager, Nutanix Database Service, Nutanix Unified Storage, and/or Nutanix End User Computing.

Service configuration and deployment for VMware ESXi (optional feature)

If VMware® software is provided by the Customer, the following deployment activities for the VMware software will be provided as specified:

  • As part of the deployment phase, HPE will remotely perform the following tasks: Configure the IP address assignment for one Nutanix node. HPE will configure Host and Cloud Management Platform (CMP) IP for one node as part of the Nutanix cluster deployment. Customer needs to provide Host and Controller Virtual Machine (CVM) IP address during the service planning phase.
  • Customers need to share three IPs in the same subnet. All the previously mentioned three IPs must be part of the same subnet (Layer 2) as this is required as per Nutanix design.
  • HPE will remotely deploy the VMware vSphere® vCenter Server on the VMware vSphere ESXi host provided by the Customer.
  • HPE will remotely utilize a virtual machine to deploy the Nutanix cluster with VMware vSphere ESXi.
  • VMware software provided by the customer must be at a version supported by VMware for deployment. Any requirements for versioning of Nutanix software to implement the VMware software must be met by Customers as a prerequisite for these services.

IVT

HPE will run its standard IVTs for this service.

Customer orientation session

  • Once the software installation is complete, the HPE service specialist will conduct a brief orientation session on the HPE GreenLake Flex Solutions built for Nutanix System software on basic product usage and special features. The specialist will also be available to answer questions, as appropriate. This session will not exceed one hour per cluster.
  • This orientation session will be completed on the same day of the software installation and will specifically cover a demonstration of the HPE GreenLake Flex Solutions built for Nutanix System software basic features.
  • The Customer is responsible for ensuring attendance at this session and providing the necessary logistics to enable HPE to provide the orientation session.
  • Review basic maintenance tasks to be performed on a regular basis and on an administrative interface—data protection capabilities.
  • The orientation session is informal and is not intended as a classroom activity or as a substitute for formal product training. Other subject areas, such as hardware management, security, volume management, and snapshots, are covered by HPE Education Services training courses. To improve the quality of the session, the Customer should be familiar with the management of several components of the solution (such as Nutanix AOS, AHV, Prism, [and or options such as Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure and Nutanix Cloud Manager], HPE ProLiant DX hardware).
  • The orientation session does not cover the networking for AHV deployment.
  • The orientation session does not cover networking and VMware vCenter® for ESXi-based deployments.
  • 3. Customer responsibilities

    • In addition to the prerequisites or other eligibility requirements identified during the service planning session, the Customer is also responsible for the following:
      • The Customer will be responsible for the pulling and installation of cables outside the immediate work area; configure and provide network cables, IP addresses, and subnet masks required for the installation as defined in the product documentation.
      • Supply and implement an Ethernet network and make sure it is operational at the HPE GreenLake Flex Solutions built for Nutanix System software location.
      • When services are purchased for multiple HPE GreenLake Flex Solutions built for Nutanix System software, where geographically separate sites are being configured, Customers must make sure the networks and gateways are fully operational between locations.
      • Customers must provide one IP address of the same network per node and CVM to enable the deployment of the node and configure the CVM.
      • Domain Name Services (DNS) needs to be configured by the Customer.
      • When this service is being used to add additional nodes to an existing cluster of HPE GreenLake Flex Solutions built for Nutanix System software, the Customer is responsible for ensuring that firmware and software are at the latest levels, as specified by HPE, in the existing cluster.
      • Customers need to allow network traffic on the required ports through the firewall for Nutanix deployment.
      • Customers must provide one IP address of the same network per node and CVM to enable the deployment of the node and configure the CVM.
      • If the Customers elect to provide the VMware software (not included as part of the HPE GreenLake Flex Solutions built for Nutanix System software under the SOW), they are responsible to provide its ISO image files.

    • The Customer will:
      • Ensure that all service prerequisites identified in the Customer responsibilities and HPE responsibilities sections or otherwise communicated have been met prior to delivery of the on-site services.
      • Assign a designated person from the Customer’s staff who, on behalf of the Customer, will grant all approvals. The staff should also provide information and ensure that all hardware that the HPE service specialist will need to deliver this service is available, along with software products that are properly licensed.
