Azure Local
Azure Local is a Microsoft Azure hybrid cloud offering allowing customers to operate infrastructure across distributed locations enabled by Azure Arc. Azure Local allows customers to run virtual machines (VMs), containers, and select Azure services with Azure Local on premises, in a manner consistent with the Azure cloud. Powered by a dedicated virtualization OS platform consumed as an Azure cloud service, refreshed annually and combined with the rock solid HPE ProLiant platform, HPE ProLiant Server Premier Solutions and Integrated Systems for Azure Local offer the ease of an appliance-like solution experience including the security and efficiency of the HPE ProLiant platform, HPE offers multiple Premier Solutions and Integrated Systems for Azure Local. All HPE ProLiant Server Premier Solutions and Integrated Systems for Azure Local solutions include:
- − Scaling from a single node in non-critical environments up to 16 in single node scaling increments.
- − Configuration flexibility within the envelope of server options validated for Azure Local including CPU cores, memory capacity, storage capacity, and networking.

Notes: Azure Local uses a Microsoft Windows Server technology known as Network ATC. This technology utilizes the concept of ‘network intents’ to define the usage of one or more network adapter ports and apply an appropriate configuration to those ports, according to Microsoft’s best practices. If multiple ports (up to 8) are configured as part of the same network intent, and depending on the intent type, Network ATC may configure those ports in a team or set of bonded ports to increase potential throughput and resiliency for the affiliated traffic. Due to the variance that can exist between adapter manufactures and models, including feature differentials, Microsoft requires that any ports that are combined in a single network intent must be from the same make and model of network adapter. For example: Combining ports from a Broadcom and Mellanox adapter would not be permitted because they are from different manufactures and are a different model of network adapter. Combining ports from a Mellanox adapter in an OCP3 slot and from a Mellanox adapter in a PCIe slot would not be permitted because they are from a different model of network adapter. | |

Switch selections must offer a speed compatible with that of the Azure Local server network adapters chosen. Compatible SFPs, direct-attached cables, or CAT6 cables must be considered when ordering a solution.
Optional network switch configuration services are automatically attached when network switches are included in the order to help speed up your solution deployment and ensure your network infrastructure implementation complies with the Azure Local network requirements. Azure Local with Microsoft Windows Server 2025 OEM License
Available only at the time of purchase of HPE ProLiant Server Premier Solutions and Integrated Systems for Azure Local, the license bundle offers the following benefits:
- − License: the two included software and service elements with a one-time license fee with no monthly subscription payments normally incurred for Azure Local and Windows Server guests running on the licensed node
- • Attractively priced, the bundle offers significant savings compounded over time compared to Microsoft’s published monthly Azure subscription payments for Azure Local and fixed or subscription-based licensing requirements for Windows Server guests over the entire active life of an Azure Local node
- • The Azure Stack Local with Microsoft Windows Server 2025 license bundle is a CPU core-based license with the total number of physical processor cores in a server that need to be licensed (a minimum licensing requirement of 16 cores applies – similar to the licensing minimum of Windows Server)
- − Flexibility: Can be rolled into a GreenLake Flex Solutions consumption as-a-service contract if desired or purchased along with the node through a one-time payment
- − Exclusive option for HPE ProLiant Server Premier Solutions and Integrated Systems for Azure Local

When building a configuration in OCA, an option exists (a check box) to include the license. When enabled, OCA will calculate the number of CPU cores in the configured solution and add the appropriate license SKUs and necessary quantities to the bill of materials. Relevant SKUs are as follows:

Installation and Deployment Services for Azure Local Solutions
Following physical delivery of the solution, the following on-site services are delivered to complete the deployment and integration of the solution into the environment:

The European Union Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive [EU WEEE] (2002/95/EC) requires manufacturers to provide treatment information for each product type for use by treatment facilities. This information (product disassembly instructions) is posted on the Hewlett Packard Enterprise web site at: https://www.hpe.com/us/en/about/environment/product-recycling.html.
