Product description
The HPE Juniper Networking QFX5140 Switch Series is a next-generation, 1RU fixed-configuration data center switch designed for AI fabric, spine, leaf, and border leaf deployments. Engineered to meet the increasing demands of modern data centers, the QFX5140 delivers high bandwidth, low latency, and operational efficiency in a compact form factor, making it a versatile foundation for next-generation Ethernet fabrics.
Powered by the Broadcom Trident 5 ASIC with 112G PAM4 SerDes, QFX5140-24CD8O delivers 16 Tbps of switching capacity with industry-leading port density: 24× 400G QSFP112, 8× 800G OSFP800 & 2x SFP28 ports with flexible breakout to 160× 100G for rapid scale-out. Its low latency and carefully sized on-chip buffering are optimized for predictable, low-jitter performance rather than bulk queueing, making the switch well suited for inference traffic. Native support for RoCEv2, along with modern congestion management features such as PFC, ECN, and dynamic load balancing, enables efficient GPU-to-GPU communication while maintaining Ethernet flexibility. Positioned as a leaf or pod-level aggregation switch, the QFX5140 provides a balanced foundation for scaling inference clusters with high performance, operational simplicity, and future-proof bandwidth.
Building on the proven QFX5130 platform (Trident 4) and incorporating AI / machine learning (ML) feature parity with the QFX5240 platform (Tomahawk 5), the QFX5140 is purpose-built for enterprises and cloud providers evolving their data center fabrics from 100G and 400G to 400G and 800G. With native RoCEv2 support, end-to-end congestion control for data center networks, and enhanced telemetry and metadata, the QFX5140 is well-suited for storage and AI/ML inference networks where deterministic performance and scalability are critical.
