ITSM team challenge: Race to service success
The Race to Results Service Management Simulation offers an exciting, competitive way to discover ITSM
ITSM training has never been this fun, effective—or turbocharged
Discover the key to successful service management and have a great time doing it
The Race to Results Service Management Simulation is fast‑moving, competitive, and engaging—and unlike any IT learning experience you’ve had before. The experience transports you into the adrenaline-fueled world of motorsports, where you must focus your attention on making strategic service management decisions. Based on ITIL® best practices, this immersive, interactive simulation demonstrates the business benefits gained from successful IT service management (ITSM).
Race to Results provides tangible business targets that relate directly to the levels of service provided by IT. Although the benefits of service management are proven, it can be a challenge to convince others. Race to Results addresses this skepticism. The unique training environment makes it a perfect tool to increase involvement, commitment, and enthusiasm—some of the critical elements for a successful service management initiative—from all employees in your organization, from management to IT staff. It is an exciting, engaging, and educational experience for all participants.

The scene
Your business, a high-performance international motor racing team, is supported by a range of IT services that need to be continually monitored and adjusted. The business relies heavily on IT for innovation and speed, directly affecting the bottom line. Your team must deliver new services—on time and at the right price—to improve the car’s performance while competing in the Race to Results World Championship. The stakes are high, and only optimal provision and delivery of IT services will ensure that business goals and revenue targets are met.
How it works
- Participants are teamed up to compete in five races
- As a team, you make service management-related decisions before each race
- Each decision impacts your performance on the racetrack
- Teams receive feedback through the lens of ITIL after each race
- Participants collaborate on an improvement plan to prepare for the next race
Throughout the event, you learn about the components of the IT service management (ITSM) lifecycle, starting with service operation, then moving to service strategy, service design, service transition, and continual service improvement.
Crossing the finish line
Your success, or failure, will be clearly visible from the lessons learned and decisions about each service improvement plan. The simulation emphasizes the need to work together as a team, as opposed to working in isolated, unconnected silos and demonstrates the importance of different teams working together to improve overall business processes. It also allows you to experience firsthand how the application of ITSM processes can dramatically improve business performance.
