Risks of counterfeit HPE software, spares and options

HPE endeavors to use the highest quality components. We work with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to create specific HPE firmware, drivers, and software that provide optimized performance and manageability.

Around the world, investigations reveal that a number of fraudulent HPE parts are represented as new HPE product. These parts are often packaged as HPE Option Kits and Spares Kits.

On this webpage HPE’s Business Security & Integrity Group (“BSIG”), which manages HPE’s Brand Protection program, offers information and services to help authenticate HPE Products in case of Counterfeit and/or Parallel Import concerns.

To obtain general information and guidance on the validation of your HPE part, download the HPE Validate mobile app from either the Apple App or Google Play stores. Please note that this app offers guidance only. For a complete authentication, you must submit a Product Validation Request using the button on the top of the webpage. Complete authentications can only be done by HPE’s BSIG experts. The best way to ensure you are purchasing and selling genuine HPE products is to purchase from authorized HPE partners.

The HPE Validate mobile app will allow you to scan the Security ID (SID) on the HPE Security Label to obtain additional information on whether it can be a valid and unique SID. Please note that the SID is only one of HPE’s security features and such verification will not provide a full and final authentication.

By using the App you can scan the barcode on the label for an initial validation review.

Visual Inspection of HPE security labels to help identifying counterfeit – Label hologram

Risk of Parallel Imported HPE Products

Any reseller who imports HPE products into the European Economic Area (“EEA”) and/or the United Kingdom (“UK”) without HPE’s consent may be liable for trademark infringement (“Parallel Imports”). This applies as well to any third party who distributes an HPE product that has not been legally imported into the EEA and the UK (i.e. with HPE’s consent).

If you would like to know where HPE has authorized an HPE Product to be distributed, please submit a request through the Parallel Import Check to HPE’s Business Security & Integrity Group (BSIG).
