Front-End Applications

What is a Front-End Application?

A front-end application, commonly known as the interface of an application, is the layer or element that the user has the ability to use, see, and interact with through buttons, images, interactive elements, navigational menus, and text.

How do front-end applications work?

Applications work from back end to front end. The process all starts with a design. When the design and content of a page are determined, then a front-end developer can begin development of the application.

Once the front end of an application has been developed, the user can access it. Upon opening a front-end application, the user immediately begins interacting with the fonts, colors, and flow of the interface. These elements guide the user through navigation of the application, while the back end simultaneously gathers data insights from the interactions.

The front end of an application is absolutely critical to the visual aspects of the app. Through the utilization of HTML, JavaScript, and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), developers can incorporate effects and stylistic preferences. UI/UX also plays an essential role in front-end development, as users will gain the best experience through intentional UI/UX implementation.

What is an example of a front-end application?

Some examples of front-end applications that enable web languages are HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. These three examples, as mentioned above, are essential to the development and accessibility of an interface.

· HTML lays the actual foundation for every site that lives on the web through enablement of page display. Without HTML, the Internet browser does not have any information about the layout and display of a page. The process begins with parsing, ensuring that every tag in the file is considered and included.

· JavaScript is text-based and is used in front-end application development. This front-end application is the key that provides the interactive elements of a web page that the user directly engages with. Formatted around its own unique language, JavaScript dynamically interprets each singular piece of code, one at a time. Functioning as a programming language, it verifies the code in real time to ensure a seamless interface process.

· CSS determines the layout and style of web pages. This front-end application is critical for complete customization of a web page, as it enables adjustment and modification of every element of the content, including font size, spacing, animations.

What is the difference between the front end and the back end?

There are several key differences between the front end and the back end of websites, and every website demands both front and back end in order to function as a site. The key difference between the front and back ends lies in render location. Back-end development enables server-side rendering for data processing and storage, and front-end development enables render for user interfacing.

Front end

Consisting of all visual and interactive elements, this side of the site can be experienced by all users. This includes the applications that form the foundation of the experience, such as HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. Often considered the client side of an application, the front end is essential to user interactions and visual journeys.

Back end

Formed as a basis for the server side of an application, this side is the brain of a website and is not accessible to the user. Without the ability to be viewed by the user, back-end applications such as Ruby and Python dictate everything that happens behind the scenes of a website. It is the server’s responsibility to process all requests that a front-end user makes, while simultaneously storing data and critical insights that will benefit the owner of the site.

HPE and front-end applications
