Host Service Overview

Use the host Service Overview

From a Host Status view on the Health tab, click a host's Service Overview link (i.e., gear icon).

From a Service Status view on the Health tab, click a service's Service Details Graphs link (i.e., gear icon).

The Service Overview provides general status information, various performance and status graphs, a search function, actions icons, time range filters and services. Each of these items is described in more detail below.

Graphs

The initial Service Overview provides charts and graphs over a 25 hour time period. Clicking in any graph will zoom in to display more detail. For example, clicking on the Ping Times graph opens a new view showing Ping Times and Packets Lost graphs for 4 hours, 25 hours, 1 week, 1 month, and 1 year periods.

There are four icons in the upper right hand corner of each graph. The table below explains what happens when each of these icons is clicked:

Graph IconAction Performed
MegaphoneOpens the Alert Summary Report for the host for the graph's time range
Graph LineOpens the Host AvailabilityReport for the host
Green + SymbolAdds the graph to My Basket to provide a quick and easy custom view. Once the desired graphs are added to the basket, click the Show basket button to display the custom view. Click the Clear basket button to remove the selected graphs.

My Basket is located on the right hand side of the window under the Actions icons.

Magnifying GlassOpens an enlarged view the specific graph in a separate window. Use the buttons at the bottom of the window to adjust the start and end time parameters.

Actions Icons

The five Actions icons perform functions on the data, as listed in the table below. This feature is provided by PnP4Nagios, a plug-in for Icinga, and provides for charting analysis.

Time Ranges Filters

The Time Ranges filters provide a quick way to change the time period displayed in the graphs. Options are Custom time range, Overview, 4 Hours, 25 Hours, One Week, One Month, and One Year.
  • The Custom time range option displays the graphs using the date/time range that was defined using the Actions Calendar icon.
  • The Overview option is the same as the initial Service Overview that displays when first opened from the Host Status view on the Health tab.

Services Filters

The Services filters provide a quick way to display a subset of the graphs grouped by function. Each filter displays full graphs for the standard time periods: 4 Hours, 25 Hours, 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, and 1year. The filters provided include:
