Sonexion Hardware Components
Brief descriptions of racks, servers, storage hardware, storage media, and power & cooling components
There is a correlation between data in the Inventory view and system status in the Node Status view, based on Lustre nodes hosted on the component hardware. For example, a problem with the hardware would be listed as a red Problems found link placed to the right of the component.
Hardware Category and Type
The Inventory view lists the following categories of component hardware:
| Category | Description |
|---|---|
| Racks |
Valid types: 42U |
| Servers | System components include a number of different servers that host the Lustre and system nodes. |
| Storage Hardware | The CMU and SSU components use different types of storage hardware (enclosures). |
| Storage Media | Systems contain two (2) types of storage media: HDDs and SSDs. Valid types: HDD, SSD |
| Power & Cooling | System components contain several types of power supplies and modules. Valid types: Power Supply Unit (PSU), Power Cooling Module (PCM) |
Quantity
The Quantity column on the Inventory view lists the total number of each type of hardware components in the entire system. However, certain hardware components are not listed, such as disks, PSUs, and PCMs that cannot be detected because a component was removed or pulled.
Status
The Status column on the Inventory view lists the status of each hardware type in the system inventory (valid values: OK, Problems found, or Installed). If there is an interruption in data received from the monitoring utility, then a dash (–) displays as the status for the affected components. When the monitoring data resumes, the dashes update with regular status values.
If all components of the specified hardware type are functioning normally, then OK displays. If one (1) or more components has a problem—for example, if one (1) disk has an issue but the remaining ones are functioning normally—then Problems found displays (as a link to the Health tab).
If the system does not actively monitor the hardware component status, then Installed is shown.
