Reliable Fast Ethernet Access Layer Switches
The HPE 3100 EI Switch Series enhances security by providing reliable fully managed Fast Ethernet Layer 2 switches ideal for the access layer of medium and large enterprises.
Series includes 8-, 16-, 24- and 48-port models with Gigabit Ethernet uplinks with a 24-port PoE model for support of IP phones, wireless APs and video cameras.
Hardware-based wire speed access control lists (ACLs) help provide high levels of security and ease of administration without impacting network performance with a feature-rich TCAM-based ACL implementation.
External redundant power supply provides improved reliability.
Enhanced Quality of Service (QoS) and Service Control
The HPE 3100 EI Switch Series provides traffic prioritization with supported congestion actions including strict priority (SP), weighted round robin (WRR), SP+WRR and HQ+WRR queuing.
Broadcast control cuts down on unwanted network broadcast traffic. Advanced QoS classifies traffic using multiple match criteria based on Layer 2, 3, and 4 information and applies QoS policies such as setting priority level and rate limit to selected traffic on a per-port or per-VLAN basis.
Multiple user authentication methods include MAC Authentication, IEEE 802.1X and Web for greater, policy-driven security.
Enhanced security features include port isolation, STP BPDU port protection and root guard. Radius/HWTACAS eases switch management security administration by using a password authentication server.
Single View of the Network
The HPE 3100 EI Switch Series can be seamlessly managed with the optional HPE Intelligent Management Center (IMC) Software Platform to provide end-to-end network transparency with consistent network experience through comprehensive configuration, compliance and policy management.
Separate data and control paths: increase security and performance
External redundant power supply: provides high reliability
Smart link: allows 50 ms failover between links
Spanning Tree/MSTP, RSTP: provides redundant links while preventing network loops
Port trunking: provides higher switch-to-switch throughput and link-level redundancy, with support for standards-based link aggregation (IEEE 802.3ad); supports up to 13 trunks, each with up to 8 links (ports) per trunk
PVST+ on v2 products: provides greater interoperability
8K MAC addresses: provide access to many Layer 2 devices
VLAN support and tagging: supports the IEEE 802.1Q, with 4,094 simultaneous VLAN IDs; supports port-based VLANs, MAC-based VLANs, and protocol-based VLANs
GARP VLAN Registration Protocol: allows automatic learning and dynamic assignment of VLANs
IEEE 802.1ad QinQ and Selective QinQ: increase the scalability of an Ethernet network by providing a hierarchical structure; connect multiple LANs on a high-speed campus or metro network
