Cloud-enabled integrated one-stop digital touch point automated teller machines (ATMs) provide telemedicine services to pilgrims during their Char Dham Yatra, a pilgrimage of four holy shrines in India
Bengaluru – April 25, 2023 – Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) today announced that it has deployed 50 Health ATMs across the Char Dham Yatra route in collaboration with the Department of Health and Family Welfare (DOHFW) in the state of Uttarakhand.
These cloud-enabled Health ATMs are installed at different points where pilgrims usually take a break while undertaking the pilgrimage to the four Himalayan shrines of Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri. The main aim of these Health ATMs is to ease access to primary healthcare for the public in the remotest areas during their journey.
The Health ATM is a touch screen kiosk designed to manage health-related information and allows individuals to access their personal health information at any time through any internet-connected web browser. It can screen more than 70 health parameters, including the patient’s height, weight, body temperature, blood glucose, blood pressure, invasive and non-invasive blood tests, heart check-up and oxygen saturation levels within fifteen minutes followed by an instant report. It can also assist patients by consulting with specialized and certified doctors and hospitals for the best treatment through its telemedicine consultation facility. These machines have a power back up of up to three hours.
“The Health ATM technology is one of the most groundbreaking developments in the medical profession for providing accessible and affordable primary and preventive healthcare services,” said Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, honorable Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. “We would like to thank HPE for their partnership to set up these Health kiosks along the Char Dham Yatra route. This is going to bridge the gap between urban and rural healthcare and improve the overall health of people in the remotest areas.”
“India has one of the largest healthcare systems in the world but there are still challenges and gaps for access and availability of healthcare services in rural areas and underserved communities,” said Som Satsangi, SVP and managing director, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, India. “We are proud to partner with the government of Uttarakhand to install these Health ATMs to support the pilgrimage. At HPE, we believe in digital inclusion and will continue to drive initiatives to provide quality healthcare with the help of our innovative technology solutions to communities in the remotest areas.”
HPE will be supporting the maintenance of the Health ATMs for the next 12 months. HPE will also be training the paramedic staff and doctors deployed at the Health ATMs to operate the medical devices.
