Company will remain a strong member of the Houston community
Palo Alto, November 1, 2017 Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) today reiterated its deep commitment to Houston and the State of Texas. The company announced that it will move out of its current Houston campus but will stay in the Houston area.
"We have a long history in Houston and we remain deeply committed to the area and our more than 3,000 local employees, said Antonio Neri, President of HPE. We look forward to many more years as part of the community in a new Houston area campus, purpose-built for our company."
HPEs current campus is located next to Cypress Creek, which experienced unprecedented flooding due to hurricanes in 2016 and 2017. Because of the destructive effects of flooding two years in a row, the company has decided to move more than 3,000 employees to a new site in the greater Houston area. Most employees, including sales, business unit, supply chain, legal, and human resources teams, will remain in the current campus until a new Houston location has been identified and built.
HPEs manufacturing facilities, located on the current campus, were irreparably damaged by Hurricane Harvey. As a result, the company has decided to permanently move those operations to its state-of-the-art manufacturing site in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. Some manufacturing will also be moved to HPEs supply chain partner, Flex, in Austin, Texas. HPE will attempt to relocate some of the impacted manufacturing employees to Chippewa Falls or Austin.
Given hurricane preparedness actions HPE took earlier this year, the company does not expect the manufacturing changes to cause any disruption for customers or partners.
