Growing up in Ireland in a family restaurant must have been a unique experience. How did it shape your approach to customer service?
It was everything. It closed two days in the year, and on those two days, some of the customers came to our home to eat that day. I learned early on that business is about trust and loyalty. Our business was successful because of local customers and repeat business - knowing the customer meant knowing how successful your business could be.
Your career path has been quite diverse. How did transitioning from the restaurant industry to KPMG and later HPE shape your leadership?
Each role broadened my perspective. My business degree at the University of Limerick pushed me outside my comfort zone, studying in German also expanded my worldview. At KPMG, auditing different companies gave me an inside look at what makes businesses thrive. I started in Hewlett Packard International Bank in finance and moved across HPE—I had the opportunity to rotate between operations, customer service, business development, and sales. These shifts helped me understand the business from every angle, which later informed my leadership in technology.
As Managing Director of HPE Ireland and later Chief of Staff to Antonio Neri, what were your biggest leadership takeaways?
Leading HPE Ireland put me at the heart of leading a phenomenal team that looked after our customers every day. I saw how HPE fuels our customers innovation, and how our team's responsiveness to meeting our customers’ needs is best in class.
Transitioning to Chief of Staff for Antonio Neri was like an accelerated leadership masterclass. It gave me a panoramic view of the company and reinforced for me the power of building great teams. Antonio puts his trust in our people to find solutions, and he has inspired people to come on a technology innovation journey few CEO's have embarked on.
If you could give your younger self advice, what would it be?
“Don’t listen to the naysayers.” I got that advice from my wonderful aunt and it has stuck with me. Later, working with Antonio Neri, I learned patience—leading isn’t about sprinting ahead alone, but about bringing people along with you. If I could talk to my younger self, I’d say: Trust your gut, tune out the doubters, and build strong relationships—they’re the key to success.
If you could choose a superpower, what would it be?
I am a keen cook - no surprise there as I come from a family of chefs, I know there is always room for improvement, and I love that food brings people together.
Looking back, what are you most proud of? And what kind of legacy do you hope to leave?
My children and husband bring me the greatest joy and pride. I cherish the family we have, and I am very proud of them. Their support has been the backbone of my journey.
On the business side, I take immense pride in the work we do at HPE, I am very proud of the fact that we enable our customers' innovation - We truly advance the way people live and work. We enable our customers innovation in a sustainable way - Last year, of the 3.4 million IT assets we processed in our Technology Renewal Centers, over 83% were reused. The rest was responsibly recycled. That’s the kind of lasting impact I want to leave behind: innovation that is responsible, efficient, and future-focused...
