It also offers an opportunity for all team members to learn about Hispanic and Latino cultures, histories, and contributions. This can lead to greater cultural competence and sensitivity within our workforce.

This year’s theme of “Pioneers of change: Shaping the future together” really resonates with me. As a Cuban-American, I have been blessed to have worked with some great companies over the years where I had a chance to drive significant transformations that ultimately benefitted our customers and team members.  I’ve helped to create passionate, forward leaning cultures where people want to work.  Having been promoted to Chief Talent Officer earlier this year, I’m now leading a talented team that is reshaping how we manage performance and leadership development. These are cornerstone programs that ensure our talent is constantly growing while helping to improve employee engagement and retention. Our HPE awards might suggest that we can be pioneers of change on the culture front as well.
