CRN’s Tech Innovator Awards celebrate the most groundbreaking products and services in the IT channel. To determine the winners, CRN editors assessed hundreds of vendor products along multiple criteria, including uniqueness, key capabilities, technological competency and addressing customer needs.

Let’s take a deeper look at what makes these winning solutions so innovative:

HPE GreenLake cloud services – empowering innovation and modernization in the cloud

Announced at Discover Virtual Experience, HPE GreenLake Cloud Services provide customers with a powerful foundation to drive digital transformation through an elastic as a service platform that can run on-premises, at the edge, or in a colocation facility. HPE GreenLake offers a range of cloud services that accelerate innovation, including cloud services for compute, container management, data protection, high performance computing (HPC), machine learning operations (MLOps), networking, SAP HANA, storage, virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) and virtual machines (VM). Customers can learn about pricing and request a trial on each cloud service, spin up instances and clusters in a few clicks, and manage their multi-cloud estate from HPE GreenLake Central. HPE’s flexible as a service model and robust cost and compliance analytics tools help customers preserve cash flow, control spend and prioritize investments.

HPE GreenLake Central – delivering the modern cloud experience everywhere

At the core of HPE GreenLake cloud services is the unifying platform, HPE GreenLake Central, which centralizes operations and insights across a customer’s entire hybrid estate. Launched in 2019, HPE GreenLake Central enables customers to provision instances and redeploy resources in on-premises environments with the same speed and agility as off-premises. They can also monitor and run off-premises costs and compliance in AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud, as well as on-premises environments. The platform suggests ways to prioritize spend through integration with Azure Access Manager and AWS Access Manager. With the ability to access their own consumption metrics and analytics, customers can more dynamically optimize the placement of workloads based on the factors most important to them – such as cost, governance, security, or interdependence with other systems.

HPE Ezmeral Container Platform - unlocking the value of data from edge to cloud

Unveiled at HPE Discover Virtual Experience 2020, the HPE Ezmeral Container Platform provides the flexibility to deploy and manage containerized applications at scale on any infrastructure – in enterprise data centers, colocation facilities, multiple public clouds and at the edge. Customers can run cloud-native or non-cloud-native applications in containers without costly refactoring, manage multiple Kubernetes clusters with a unified control plane, and leverage a high-performance distributed file system for persistent data and stateful applications through HPE’s proven innovations such as HPE Ezmeral Data Fabric and the KubeDirector open source project. The HPE Ezmeral Container Platform is also delivered as a cloud service through HPE GreenLake.

HPE ProLiant MicroServer Gen10 Plus – a powerful, affordable, compact-sized server for SMBs

Digital transformation can help small to mid-sized businesses (SMB) focus on creating better products, services and customer experiences to drive business growth, but adopting and managing enterprise-grade IT solutions are not always options for smaller businesses with limited resources. The HPE ProLiant MicroServer Gen10 Plus, announced in early 2020, was reimagined to accelerate the digital transformation and unlock value for small businesses with industry-leading security, performance, automation and remote management capabilities that are easy-to-manage and scale to small business needs.

The new MicroServer is compact and lightweight. It weighs only ten pounds and is as small as a typical hardcover textbook, making it easy to carry around or be placed in any-sized environment. It is easy to set up like a smartphone and costs less than $20 a month through a monthly subscription service from HPE Financial Services. For the first time, the MicroServer offers SMBs with enterprise-grade solutions to focus on driving growth and improving customer experience. New features include powerful, yet quiet, compute power with Intel Pentium or Intel Xeon E processors, the HPE-exclusive and world’s only Silicon Root of Trust server security technology for end-to-end data protection, HPE Integrated Lights Out (iLO) for remote management and HPE InfoSight for automation and predictive analytics.

HPE Primera – innovate without compromise and complexity

HPE Primera is HPE's storage solution for mission-critical workloads, differentiated by HPE InfoSight, the industry’s most artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) platform. HPE Primera redefines mission-critical storage by giving customers superior simplicity, availability and performance. The autonomous, self-managing storage provided by HPE Primera enables businesses to bring new mission-critical applications to market, and support existing ones in order to accelerate the speed of business, agility and innovation. HPE Primera customers also have the choice to deploy HPE Primera as a service with a fully managed experience and pay only for what they use through HPE GreenLake.

HPE Nimble Storage dHCI - category-creating disaggregated hyperconverged infrastructure

Announced in May of this year, HPE Nimble Storage dHCI is a category-defining disaggregated hyperconverged infrastructure (dHCI) platform powered with AI. HPE Nimble Storage dHCI is designed from the ground up to deliver the HCI experience, but with more flexibility and better resiliency and performance than traditional HCI. Organizations are choosing HPE Nimble Storage dHCI over competitive HCI platforms for business-critical apps and mixed-workloads due to the better performance, resiliency, efficiency and total cost of ownership.  This is evident in the early adoption that we have seen from enterprises and mid-sized organizations. For example, PetSure, a financial services business, chose HPE Nimble Storage dHCI over competitive HCI platforms to repatriate their virtual desktops from the public cloud, realizing 50 percent lower operating costs, 2x performance gains and 70 percent improvement in efficiency without sacrificing agility.
