Ours is a connected world. People to people, people to things, things to things (thanks to IoT).
With five billion users, mobile devices now connect 2/3 of the worlds population, and the number of IoT connections wont lag far behind for long. During this transformative time, successful enterprises will be those that can constantly innovate, at warp speed, to truly deliver on the promise of connectivity:
And that is ... to create a better future.
That's the theme of Mobile World Congress 2018 (MWC) in Barcelona this week, where HPE is showcasing our unique mix of innovative datacenter, cloud and intelligent edge solutions that are helping telcos and enterprises operate more efficiently, productively and securely. And we've got plenty to display in that vein, so Id like to spotlight a few of our MWC initiatives that illustrate how cutting-edge solutions are driving digital transformation in multiple and varied ways.
First, we are pleased to be involved in new customer deployments in India that will enhance the safety and security of citizens via cloud-based technologies. Bhopal Smart City Development Corporation Ltd. (BSCDCL) has selected HPE to create Indias first cloud-based Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC).
This is exciting, as it combines our Universal IoT platform, servers, Edge compute systems, HPE Pointnext services and our partner ecosystem to deliver an end-to-end solution to efficiently oversee citizen services applications across seven cities in Madyha Pradesh. Its a textbook example of how HPE is committed to partnering with governments to implement cutting-edge technology designed to improve the quality of life for citizens.
Given the importance of global standards in hastening the deployment of interoperable Machine-to-Machine and IoT technologies, HPE will host a number of demonstrations that reveal how our Universal IoT Platform is built according to oneM2M, an alliance of eight of the world's preeminent standards development organizations. Our use of the oneM2M-based horizontal framework approach enables our platform including the HPE Edgeline Converged Edge Systems to support applications across several industry verticals. Thats vitally important, given that – by 2019 - nearly 50 percent of all IoT data is expected to be processed at the edge prior to being sent to a data center. Edgeline can play a key role in optimizing such next generation mobile services as AR, IoT and video analytics.
HPE has signed a global reseller agreement with Metaswitch. This alliance will enable Metaswitch network software products to be integrated into our virtual network functions and management platforms. The result? A sophisticated, end-to-end platform of virtualized VoLTE, VoWiFi and advanced communications services.
In addition to these announcements, well be demonstrating – in conjunction with our rich ecosystem of partners – several innovative solutions in our MWC booth, Hall 3 Stand 3E11.
Particularly interesting are the advancements in connected car technology. Developed by KDDI Research, and implemented on HPE ProLiant servers, were exhibiting a control function to alleviate congestion in mobile networks by routing high-priority data during spikes in communications traffic. This function will become increasingly critical as IoT connectivity accelerates (car pun, intended!).
Mobile is creating a better future. And HPE – from hybrid IT to Intelligent Edge to 5G-ready technology -- is proud to be playing an integral role. See for yourself at Mobile World Congress 2018!
