Securing Hybrid Clouds

This week at the HPE Protect conference, HPE Security have made a number of key announcements around solutions that are designed to streamline and strengthen the approach an organization takes to intelligent security operations, DevOps, and data protection. These are very relevant to anyone wondering how they can maintain a level or compliancy across both a cloud and on premises hybrid IT infrastructure.

Security, compliance and data sovereignty are regularly cited in analyst surveys as the top three concerns for organizations considering the move to the cloud, and at HPE weve spent a lot of time looking at how an organization should approach cloud security when finding the right mix of hybrid infrastructure. Its become very clear that, for most organizations, the traditional on premises data center is no longer able to fulfill all business IT requirements, but at the same time the cloud is not flexible/secure/cost effective enough for every legacy business application, so organizations need to adopt a hybrid approach part cloud, part on premises.

A recent white paper from 451 Research, Critical Security and Compliance Considerations for Hybrid Cloud Deployments, showed that customers are most concerned about the security and privacy of moving data and workloads around a hybrid environment, maintaining consistent security policies across both and remaining compliant. So its very clear that whenever an enterprise decides to transform their business to a hybrid model, security needs to be involved in the discussions from day one.
