CEO Meg Whitman shares the vision for the new company

The chance to reinvent a Fortune 50 company doesn't come around often, but on November 1, history was made when we officially separated HP into two companies HPE Inc., which will focus on printers and personal systems, and Hewlett Packard Enterprise, which will focus on the IT hardware, software and services that power our digital world.

This isnt just a name change. Its not an internal reorg. Hewlett Packard Enterprise is an entirely new company that will help customers use technology to quickly bring ideas to life.

Why a New Company and Why Now?

The world is moving faster than ever, and its no secret that technology is driving that speed. Every company must now be a technology company. And, winners and losers are decided by how quickly they can adapt to stay ahead in this new Idea Economy.

You dont have to look any further Uber, Airbnb, Netflix and Spotify to see how the Idea Economy is exploding. This new class of entrepreneurs are disrupting business as usual, and no industry is immune.

Whether in energy, healthcare, manufacturing, telecommunications or any other industry, companies can only survive if they have the vision and the technological agility to compete in this exciting race.

The new Hewlett Packard Enterprise will help organizations of all shapes and sizes from startups to large enterprises transition from traditional IT to the technology needs of the future. We will help businesses build flexible IT infrastructures, find valuable insights in data, proactively deal with cyber threats, and provide rich digital experiences anytime, anywhere and on any device.

Along with all of the employees of the new Hewlett Packard Enterprise, I am proud to be part of this historic shift in the way business is done.

Change can be intimidating. But fortune favors the bold, and I am excited to lead this new company, where collaborative people, empowering technology and transformative ideas will push everyone forward.

Heres to change. To new beginnings. And to going further, faster.
