HPE to acquire SimpliVity: What to expect

In the near future, we will begin to bring our technologies together in a powerful way

Last week, HPE announced plans to acquire SimpliVity, a leading provider of software-defined, hyperconverged infrastructure.  After the announcement, I flew to Westborough, MA, to spend the day with the SimpliVity team, and I have to say, I am more excited than ever about what our two companies can do together. By bringing together HPE’s best-in-class infrastructure, automation and cloud management software with SimpliVity’s industry-leading software-defined data management platform, we will deliver the best and most complete enterprise-ready hyperconverged offering on the market.

In the near term, product availability will not change.  For SimpliVity customers and partners, there will be no immediate change to the product roadmap and HPE will continue supporting existing SimpliVity customers and platforms. For current HPE customers and partners, we will continue to offer our existing hyperconverged products, the HC 380 and the HC 250.

However, in the near future, we will begin to bring our technologies together in a powerful way.  Within 60 days of closing the transaction, HPE intends to offer the SimpliVity OmniStack software qualified for ProLiant DL380 servers. In the second half of 2017, we will offer a range of integrated HPE SimpliVity hyperconverged systems based on HPE ProLiant Servers.

Looking forward, our joint customers can expect to see innovations in their hyperconverged experience like “workspace” controls, which provide business leaders and developers with simple self-service portals to compose virtualized and containerized resources, and accelerate application development and deployment. Additionally, we will provide enhanced business insight, including predictive analytics, which will give IT managers the tools they need to increase resource utilization and proactively respond to needs for new resources.

Any future changes in our combined roadmap will be clearly communicated well ahead of time and seamlessly managed for our joint customers and partners. HPE has earned a reputation for superior customer service, and we will be 100% committed to HPE and SimpliVity customers through this integration process.

Overall, I’m excited about the roadmap ahead and incredibly impressed by the talent and technology we have the opportunity to bring into the HPE family. I know this deal will accelerate our ability to deliver the leading Hybrid IT solutions to our customers and partners around the world.
