Matthew D. Sarrel, a developer evangelist for Imply (Apache Druid) and the founder of Sarrel Group, has more than 30 years of experience in technology analysis, implementation, testing, and marketing, with a focus on security, networking, big data, and analytics. He has consulted and worked for some of the largest and smallest tech companies in the world. Matt has written for numerous publications, including PCMag, eWeek, O'Reilly, InfoWorld, GigaOm, CIO, eSecurity Planet, Byte, Success magazine, AllBusiness.com, and Backayard Magazine. Matt holds a Bachelor of Arts (history) from Cornell and a Master of Public Health (epidemiology) from Columbia. He earned his CISSP credential in 2004. Matt is currently on the technology advisory board for Project HOPE and the advisory board for Rutgers University's big data program. Matt is passionate about cooking with fire and competes on the KCBS BBQ circuit.
