Executive biography

Portrait of Soumyendu Sarkar.

Soumyendu Sarkar

AI Research Lab, HPE Labs

oumyendu Sarkar is an Artificial Intelligence Chief Technologist at HPE Labs and leads research in emerging areas of Machine Learning like Reinforcement Learning, Trustworthy AI, Digital Twins, and applications of ML to clean energy, optimization, and sports. He has also developed several AI applications for computer vision, video analytics, natural language processing (NLP), and time series analysis. Soumyendu also contributes to corporate strategy on AI.

Before joining HPE, Soumyendu had led the development of market-leading computer vision, machine learning, and imaging products at Intel Corporation. At Bell Labs in Lucent Technologies, he was a Distinguished Member of the Technical Staff and developed telecom and video products. Earlier at General Electric, he developed GE’s first multiprocessor-based power grid digital relay ALPS.

Soumyendu holds an MS in Electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, and continued his studies at Stanford University. He has several publications, including the best conference application paper at the IEEE flagship conference on System Automation and Robotics, CASE ’22.
