Design thinking

Working together to discover human-centered solutions

Solve the right problems better, faster, fun(er)!

Design thinking is a process of problem-solving that is centered on people. With Design Thinking, your team can analyze and solve the right problems, ask the right questions, and build the right products iteratively. Begin by empathizing with your users and listening to what they are saying they need. Define the problems that you are trying to solve. Ideate exhaustively and explore the creative possibilities in your problem space. Prototype to begin building the right thing. Test your solutions and get feedback early.

How does design thinking apply to me?

At HPE If you are an engineer, designer, project manager, or leader, the needs of customers stand at the core of what you do. The set of Design Thinking methods available at the Innovation Catalyst allow you to personalize proven strategies to your specific problems. You can facilitate or participate in workshops with people who form the complex HPE ecosystem of innovation. Perform better by understanding our end users and collaborating internally and externally to solve problems and test solutions.

What are methods?

A method is a simple guided process. Design Thinking methods are easy to follow and deliver results that will help your team communicate and innovate in a fun, visual way. The methods are split into five stages that you may use in any phase of your projects. The stages are: Empathizing, defining, ideating, prototyping, and testing. Methods can either encourage divergent or convergent thinking. Divergent processes help your team pool expand and survey upon everyone’s collective knowledge and ideas knowledge without restraint. Convergent processes help your team narrow down and achieve consensus on the most important and agreed upon topics.

What are recipes?

Recipes combine one or more methods together. This sequence of methods compounds the potential benefit that each individual method brings. Recipes help your team optimize your use of time and resources to solve more focused problems and set clear goals. Capture your team’s collective knowledge and then focus your efforts into solving the problems with the highest impact.
