UK social value programs
HPE is deeply committed to creating a more sustainable and socially inclusive United Kingdom, in alignment with the UK Social Value Act. We will continue to understand the priorities of the communities we work in, aligning where HPE can provide the greatest contribution.
Tackling economic inequality
HPE recognises its role in creating positive social impacts by generating employment opportunities and diversifying its workforce. Established initiatives include:
Contributing positively to our communities has always been integral to the culture of HPE. We actively engage with and support local communities by:
Fighting climate change
Like our customers, we believe that combatting climate change is a moral imperative and it is our obligation to help them reach their own ambitious net-zero commitments, as we simultaneously work to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across our own supply chain.
- Reducing GHG emissions: Our efforts have gained recognition from reputable organisations like CDP.
- Carbon footprint measurement: We calculate the carbon footprint of our products' entire lifecycle, identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Energy efficiency: We invest in renewable energy, energy-efficient projects, and sustainable transportation practices to reduce operational emissions and energy consumption.
- HPE asset upcycling: We take back and refurbish or recycle retired IT infrastructure from customers, regardless of brand, allowing customers to reclaim value from asset upcycling.
Equal opportunity
Overseen by the Inclusion and Diversity Council, we are addressing systemic barriers that adversely affect underserved communities. Areas where we can make a meaningful contribution and provide support include:
- Inclusion and diversity: Creating an inclusive environment where all employees feel respected and valued, regardless of background. We emphasise continuous improvement based on employee input.
- Equal employment opportunities: Policies ensure equal employment and opportunities for all individuals, including gender, race, religion and disability.
- Gender balance: Actively working to achieve greater gender balance across all organisational levels.
- Employee resource groups: Fostering an inclusive environment for women, the LGBTQ+ community, cultural diversity, and people with disabilities.
- External recognitions: Signatory of the Tech Talent Charter and a Stonewall Global Diversity Champion, demonstrating our commitment to diversity and inclusion.
