Research institute boosts performance by 4 times
The Institute of Statistical Mathematics refurbished its statistical science supercomputer system to achieve parallel computing performance that was over four times more powerful than its legacy system.
Challenge
Build the next-generation “statistical science supercomputer system” to expand the possibilities in statistical science research by quadrupling computing power.
Solution
Adopted a high-density, water-cooled, cluster HPC system that was able to achieve super-powerful 1.497PFLOPS computing performance with high energy efficiency.
Using a water-cooled system like HPE SGI 8600 makes it possible to continue operating at high clock rate.
Result
Accelerated research activities to open new grounds by achieving supercomputing of an unprecedented level that was once considered impossible.
NCAR deploys HPE SGI 8600 supercomputer
The National Center for Atmospheric Research, or NCAR, recently deployed the HPE SGI 8600 Supercomputer to run their large-scale models and research on the atmosphere and our changing climate.
