Disable NetApp Remote Access.
- The SANtricity GUI (SMclient) must be installed.
- Requires root access, or the admin account must have permissions to run SMclient.
A security concern exists with the default password used for NetApp. This procedure disables remote access.
- Launch the SANtricity GUI (SMclient).
$ crayadm@smw> /usr/bin/SMclient
The SANtricity Enterprise Management window opens.
- Select the storage array from this window by double clicking on it.
- The next steps vary depending on which NetApp storage arrays the system uses. For E(2600,2700,5400,5500,5600) storage arrays:
- Right-click onto controller A and select Change, then Remote Login, from the dropdown menu.
The Change Remote Login window appears.
- Uncheck the box for Enable TELNET access to Controller A and click OK.
- Repeat both steps for Controller B.
- For E(2800,5700) Storage Arrays:
- The SANtricity System Manager login opens. Log in.
The Home screen appears.
- If the SetUp SANtricity System Manager window pop up appears, cancel out of it.
- Select the Hardware tab.
- Click Show back of shelf.
SANtricity System Manager displays both controllers and their power/fan canisters.
- Click on Controller A.
The drop-down menu for Controller A appears.
- Select Change remote login.
The Confirm Remote Login Change window appears, stating "SSH WIll be Disabled on Controller A for Remote Connections. Important: All active connections will be terminated. Are you sure you want to continue?"
- Click Yes to disable remote login. (Note: If the popup states ""SSH WIll be Enabled on Controller A for Remote Connections," click No instead.)
- Repeat all steps for Controller B.
- Exit SMclient.
