Initial hardware setup

Skip any steps you have already completed.

Prerequisites

All HPE Synergy frames that are intended to be managed by HPE OneView are properly connected and powered on. The appliance is physically connected to the management network.

Procedure
  1. Install and connect the HPE Synergy hardware in the appropriate bays with correct cabling for your planned configuration.

For information on hardware and cabling, see the HPE Synergy Cabling Guide.

  2. From a frame that contains the primary HPE Synergy Composer, Connect to the HPE Synergy console.
The HPE Synergy console starts and the screen displays a link to access HPE OneView.
    IMPORTANT:

Once you install the appliance in a HPE Synergy frame and power up for the first time, wait for the HPE OneView GUI to be completely up and running before you start to reimage the appliance. Waiting for the HPE OneView GUI to come up ensures that the reimaging code that is required for subsequent reimaging of the appliance gets installed successfully.

  3. Click Hardware Setup on the HPE OneView login screen. There are no minimum required privileges to log in at this point.

    The Appliance Networking screen appears.

  4. Recommended option 1: Enter the appliance network information before starting hardware discovery

If you enter the network information now, you can disconnect from the front panel console and monitor the hardware discovery process remotely.

    IMPORTANT:

Do not close the Applying network settings dialog box in the browser. Make sure that you remain connected for the couple of minutes it takes to complete the network settings process.

Option 2: Cancel appliance network configuration

To configure the appliance network after hardware discovery completes, click Cancel.

  5. Verify hardware configuration using the guidance on the HPE OneView Hardware Setup screen.
