Create backup

Follow these steps to prepare for migration:

Procedure
  1. From the Settings > Backup screen in HPE OneView, create a backup of the appliance. Save the file to an external location using the Download backup action.

    Before you take a backup of an appliance that is recently upgraded to HPE OneView 5.0 or later releases, follow the firmware update steps. This ensures that the appliance is healthy before taking a backup that is restored onto the new Composer2.

  2. If the appliance is part of a high availability cluster, use the Remove standby action on the Settings > Appliance screen to remove the standby Composer.

    The removed standby Composer undergoes a factory reset and powers off.

  3. Make a note of the appliance network configuration settings, cluster IP, and two maintenance IP addresses displayed on the Settings > Networking screen, for future retrieval.
  4. If secure data-at-rest option is enabled on the Settings > Security screen, ensure that you have the encryption key.
  5. From the Settings > Appliance screen, go to Actions > Shut down to shut down the appliance.
    NOTE:

    The backup does not contain the appliance certificate.
