ELEVATING THEORETICAL PHYSICS AND ASTROPHYSICS WITH HPC

HPE designed and deployed a custom HPC system that enabled Data-Intensive Research in Astrophysics and Cosmology (DiRAC) and the University of Leicester to deliver groundbreaking research from day one.

Challenge

Astrophysics research environments are an exact science, with highly specialized and finely balanced needs. You can’t just buy a supercomputer off the shelf.

Solution

HPE tailored Apollo and SGI systems for the DiRAC and University of Leicester research community, tripling the number of cores to nearly 14,000 with no beta testing and only four days of downtime.

Result
