Cloudless Computing

What is Cloudless Computing?

Cloudless Computing is a new approach HPE is pioneering that will transform how software is developed, delivered, and consumed. It radically simplifies and democratizes the way developers and users access the tools, services, and data that power enterprise applications.

Why is Cloudless Computing needed?

Cloudless Computing means the removal of constraints placed on developers that force them to choose to deploy in a particular cloudprivate or public—for any given workload and then live with that choice for the life of the application. With Cloudless Computing, there will be no discernable distinction between “public-ness” and “private-ness.” Applications and their constituent workloads will live wherever best suits them from a business need perspective. Moreover, Cloudless Computing will leverage the full force of the vibrant cloud-native computing development community for the benefit of all.

What are the benefits of Cloudless Computing?

The main benefit of Cloudless Computing is the simplicity it provides via its integration of tools and services. For developers, this means their applications live in the most suitable environment rather than being restricted to one environment for their entire existence. Furthermore, it creates a development paradigm that enables the open-source development community to compete in the online marketplace. All of this flexibility and greater choice is passed on to users, who then also benefit from the lower cost of software.

How does a Cloudless Computing model work?

Our cloudless vision is woven from three fabrics: Trust, Connectivity, and Value. First, the Trust Fabric will automate privacy and data sovereignty compliance. It will ensure that only devices that aren’t compromised, software that is fully validated, and data that is legitimately accessible are allowed to participate and that no data moves unencrypted. Essentially, the parts of your world that you don’t control can’t hurt you. Second, the Connectivity Fabric will provide automatic, intelligent, resilient connectivity across every cloud, all the way out to every device on every edge without the need for costly, complex, and constricting security inspection. On top of that, we’ll leverage our relationships with customers, partners, and, most critically, the open-source development community to form what we call the “Cloudless Value Fabric”: an economic framework that will allow all open-source software, services, and data providers a truly open development paradigm.
