George Louis Berridge
THOMASVILLE — Mr. George Louis Berridge, 51, a resident of Thomasville, died Saturday, June 29, 2013. He was born April 4, 1962, in Kent County, a son of Elbert Berridge and the late Anna Berridge. George was an incredible handyman and could achieve any task that he set out to accomplish and adored the outdoors. He was compassionate, caring and would go out of his way to help anyone in need and was loved by many. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family and grandchildren that he loved very much and being a great provider for them. He is preceded in death by his mother as well as a brother, Bobby Berridge.
Surviving are his wife Briggi Berridge, a daughter Brooke Berridge, a son, Jeremy Hughes; grandchildren; Aniyah Evans, Silas Hughes, and Sheyenne Pickell. Also surviving are his father, Elbert Berridge; sisters; Daisy Pinnix and husband Roger, Tammy Jones, and Tina Vestal; brothers; Jesse Berridge and wife Ruby and Ricky Berridge. George also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews.
A visitation for friends and family is scheduled for Friday, July 5, 2013, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at J C Green and Sons Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will follow at The Loft located in Southern Sisters on Main Street in Thomasville. The family will also be receiving friends and family at their home, 189 Greentree Road in Thomasville all day on Thursday, July 4. The Berridge family requests that memorials be directed to a fund for George’s grandchildren in lieu of flowers at Bank of North Carolina, 1317 National Hwy., Thomasville, N.C. 27360. Edith Elma Floyd
HIGH POINT — Mrs. Edith Elma Floyd, 85, passed away Monday, July 1, 2013, at the Hospice Home at High Point.
Mrs. Floyd was born in Columbus County, December 7, 1927, a daughter of the late Chess and Clara Cox Norris. She retired in 2007 from Lowe’s Home Improvement after 28 years of service. Edith was an active member of Fairmont Park Baptist as long as her health permitted. She was preceded in death by 10 siblings and enjoyed reading and puzzle books.
Surviving are three daughters, Linda Sikes and husband Mickey of Trinity; Karen Allred and Misty Verouden, both of High Point; three sons, Roger Jernigan and wife Pat of High Point, Michael Floyd and wife Diane of Thomasville and Dale Floyd of Trinity; 13 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Edith’s Life will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Davis Funerals and Cremations Chapel by the Rev. Dr. Steven Jones and the Rev. Bob James. Burial will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 1 until 2 p.m. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of the Piedmont. LINWOOD — Cathy Lynn Forrest, 49, of Highway 150, Linwood, died Sunday, June 30, 2013. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, at Yadkin Baptist Church Cemetery in Rowan County. Davidson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
DENTON — Mr. Leo Watson Franks, 82, of Johnson Road, Denton, NC, died Monday, July 1, at Thomasville Medical Center. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 4, at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow with military honors at Tom’s Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Briggs Funeral Home.
Pauline Marie Kidd
HIGH POINT — Mrs. Pauline Marie Kidd, 76, of High Point, died Monday, July 1, 2013.
Born February 23, 1937, to the late Robert and Hattie Kidd, Marie worked for many years at Adams Mills Hosiery. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by brother, David Kidd. Marie is survived by sister, Faye Hepler of Trinity; 4 nephews, Richard Hepler of Trinity, Mark Kidd of Jamestown, Gary Kidd and wife Amy of Thomasville, Jeffrey Kidd and wife Holly of Walkertown; niece, Debbie Cecil; sister-in-law, Nancy Kidd of Jamestown; and special friends, Betty Johnson, Pansy Davis and Sherry Baxley.
A celebration of Marie’s life will be held at a later date.

Gracie Lee Simmons Little
HIGH POINT — Gracie Lee Simmons Little, 55, of High Point went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 27, 2013.
A resident of High Point all of her life, she was born September 10, 1957, to Roy and Betty Balem Simmons.
Gracie was an alumni of Lucy Ragsdale High School, Jamestown, NC. She later furthered her education at High Point College where she played basketball. Gracie was employed as an upholsterer for 25 years.
She leaves behind three children; Jarvis (Vanessa) Simmons, Darrell (Satrina) Little Jr. and Sheresse (Jesse) Little Akers, all of High Point; five grandchildren whom she adored, Dajahri, Maziah, Ashante, Aaliyah and Christian; sisters, Deborah (Eric) Hayes, Barbara (Joe) Anderson, Sharon Simmons, Pamela (Jimmy) Crawford, Benita Simmons, Roylene Middleton, Beretta Middleton, Alicia Middleton and Renee; and three brothers, Roy Lee Simmons, Efrem Middleton and Cornelius Davis.
Funeral service will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 5, 2013, at Williams Memorial CME Church. Family visitation will be from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the church.
