We now know!
Obama cut a deal with the drug companies to prevent importation of less expensive drugs, and longer periods before generics could be produced. He got their support at our expense.
After continually bashing those in the insurance industry for their “obscene” profits (they rank 86th in profit margin!), he got their support by handing them millions more customers who will pay higher premiums to go along with their higher drug prices.
A few days before the vote, Dick Durbin, No. 3 man in the Senate, said he had no clue what was in the bill. Harry Reid would not tell the press what was in the bill. It took a $300 million bribe to get Landrieu’s vote, and a threat to close down strategic headquarters in Omaha, plus a promise to cover all of Nebraska’s Medicaid payments forever, to get Nelson’s vote.
Apparently, this is what the community organizer and his supplicant Demo-Rats call “transparency.” No major piece of legislation has ever been passed without a single vote from the other side until now.
Pelosi, when asked by a reporter where in the Constitution it gave Congress the right to mandate that citizens buy a product from a private company, replied, “Are you serious?” Yes, we’re quite serious, but apparently our anti-Constitution, anti-constituent, Social Demo-Rat Congress is not! Where were you when free-market capitalism died?

Reporter covered Carr case clearly, factually
Your news reporter Pat Kimbrough is commended on his excellence in reporting the news. His articles are very clear and accurate. He also deserves recognition for determining what is newsworthy to the local community.
The case of Guy Ellis Carr Jr., as sickening as it is, is significant to the people of this town. People need to hear total coverage relative to sex offenders. Your reporter accomplished this while no other reporters deemed it necessary.
Congratulations to Kimbrough for finding the “stomach” to cover such a heinous crime. The victim was a 4-year-old child (to 12 years old). The pain, deception and hurt never goes away.
Reporters are our messengers. Reporters need to keep us informed. And Kimbrough did an excellent job in his continual, factual reporting on this case. Many of us are grateful for your insight to protect the citizens.
Please give Kimbrough my deep appreciation for helping others to be aware of predators.

You, Stover and I all know that a person's actions don't automatically make their words untrue. Sir Isaac Newton was a vengeful slimeball, but his work was accurate and insightful. Al Gore expends enough electricity to keep hundreds of families warm, but his points are still worhtwhile.
Mike's prior posts compared to this thread show that he doesn't get that.
We should however condemn Gingrich for his role in the Clinton years. Clinton did himself in as an elected official by lying. But Gingirch was among those who paralyzed government for YEARS by illegally interfering in court cases in order to "get" Clinton.
Now he's hoping you've all forgotten that.
I really don't care what party affilation or race you are, if you're so ready to 'yak' instead of 'using common sense', then so be it!

Textile and Furniture Manufacturing jobs were the 'HEARTBEAT OF AMERICA!' These people made goods, that everyone in America needed, this created lots of jobs. These hard-working Taxpayers purchased the homes, the cars, the furniture and draperies that made America! Politicians took this from the America workers with their corruption and greed and for this, they should be held liable!

Politicians got raises and bonuses! Taxpayers received no raise, insurance
premiums were raised! Politicians get the best of healthcare, drugs, and
insurance. Taxpayers get the leftovers; including higher insurance
premiums and even higher co-pays for their GENERIC drugs.

Other than the asseretion that free market capitalism has been killed Tony M.'s letter is (unfortunately) too true. The whole healthcare reform process has been very dissapointing. The quote from candidate Obama is accurate - it was part of his standard stump speech, he probably said it dozen's of times. He did cut a deal with the Insurance and Drug companies(behind closed doors - not on C-Span) and Reid basically bought the votes he needed for the flawed Senate bill to pass. The Senate bill is a Terrible bill. The house bill isn't much better.
The President had an incredible opportnity to accomplish Real Healthcare reform and he blew it. He (and Reid and Pelosi) could have reached out to moderate Republicans by including Tort Reform and Portable health insurance but choose not to.
