For decades, Southwest Guilford has had the reputation of having a mediocre football program. Some years, it was deserved; other years, it wasn’t. But without a win against the city’s football powers, it was hard to argue otherwise.
Bishop McGuinness spent most of the first quarter Friday night playing keep-away from Trinity.
Southwest Guilford will remember this game for a long time.

Friday's HPU roundup
Tonight marks week two of the high school football regular season.
Local roundup: Former HPU pitcher Jaime Schultz named to preliminary roster for Advanced-A Charlotte Stone Crabs
Thursday's prep roundup: Central, Bishop and Wesleyan also win in soccer
After a scoreless first half, the Cowboys scored two goals – both off corner kicks – in the second half to beat visiting North Davidson 2-0 on Thursday.
Prep roundup: Trinity also wins in soccer
It’s hard to follow a classic.
Since winning the Big South tournament championship in 2010, the High Point University volleyball team hasn’t been able to repeat that success.
Prep roundup: Sydney Rowan posted 15 kills and 12 digs as High Point Christian Academy downed Calvary Baptist 25-19, 25-18, 25-14 on Tuesday.
In the end, Stacia Robertson couldn’t stay away.
That’s a different feeling than the one she had when last season for the High Point University women’s basketball season came to an end.
