Bad Boys start strong in semi-pro football
The High Point-based Triad Bad Boys semi-pro football team is off to a really good start.
The Bad Boys, who compete in the 18-team Amateur Professional Development Football League, stand 2-0 after Saturday’s dramatic 16-14 comeback road win over the Wilson Ruff Ryders.
Triad trailed 14-0 with 1:40 to play when Bad Boys QB Deon Williams hit Cortney Simmons for a 10-yard TD pass. Williams connected with Saunders for the two-point conversion pass.
The Bad Boys recovered the onside kick, then scored the tying touchdown with four seconds to play on a 20-yard TD strike from Williams to Skylar Diggins. A Williams to Saunders two-point conversion pass sealed the victory.
The Bad Boys opened their season with a 56-0 romp past the Triangle Knight Hawks at High Point Athletic Complex, where Triad plays its home games.
The APDFL features teams from N.C., S.C., Ga., Ala., Fla. and La.
