Prime Prep nips Wesleyan boys in overtime

Prime Prep of Dallas, Texas outlasted Wesleyan Christian Academy’s boys for a 68-67 win in the Under Armour Showcase late Saturday night in Charlotte.

Theo Pinson pumped in 38 points for the Trojans (13-6), who play at Calvary Baptist on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

DAVIDSON — De’Mon Brooks scored 13 of his 19 points in the second half as Davidson pulled away from Appalachian State for a 78-66 win Saturday night.
Tevin Baskin gave Appalachian State (4-12, 0-3 Southern Conference) a 36-35 lead 5 seconds into the second half, but Davidson used a 19-6 run to open up a 12-point lead with just over 14 minutes to play.
The Wildcats (7-10, 3-0) shot 57 percent from the field and 55 percent from 3-point range while turning 15 Appalachian State turnovers into 18 points.
Jay Canty scored a season-high 23 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the loss.

ELON — Lucas Troutman scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds as Elon defeated The Citadel 74-65 on Saturday night.
Jack Isenbarger added 15 points and Sebastian Koch 14 for the Phoenix (9-8, 2-1 Southern), who defeated the Bulldogs (4-14, 0-3) for the sixth straight time. Matt Van Scyoc led four Bulldogs in double figures with 16 points. The Citadel has lost six straight.

GREENVILLE — Keenan Palmore scored 23 points on 11-of-13 shooting to lead Old Dominion to a grueling 81-70 win over East Carolina in its Conference USA debut Saturday night.
In a tight game that included four first half lead changes, Old Dominion (7-9, 1-0) broke free midway through the second half when Aaron Bacote pumped in eight unanswered points to fuel a 12-2 run for a 63-52 lead that the Monarchs protected to the buzzer.
ECU (11-5, 0-1) kept the game close but hit just 22 of 55 from the field and couldn’t stop the Monarchs in the second half. Paris Roberts-Campbell led four Pirates in double-figures with 21 points and seven rebounds.

BOILING SPRINGS — Elijah Wilson scored 21 points, including four 3-pointers, to lead Coastal Carolina to an 81-69 win over Gardner-Webb in a conference matchup Saturday night.
The Chanticleers (8-8, 1-1 Big South Conference) took control midway through the first half with a 14-3 run that included two Wilson 3-pointers and carried a 35-23 advantage into the break. Gardner-Webb (7-10, 0-2) kept pace with Coastal Carolina after the break, with both teams pumping in 46 second-half points, but the Runnin’ Bulldogs couldn’t erase the deficit.
The Runnin’ Bulldogs got 16 points from Naji Hibbert.

CHICAGO — D.J. Augustin had 20 points and 12 assists and Joakim Noah added 19 points and 14 rebounds, helping the streaking Chicago Bulls beat the Charlotte Bobcats 103-97 on Saturday night.
Chicago had seven players score in double figures in its fifth consecutive victory. The Bulls (17-18) also improved to 3-0 since they traded All-Star Luol Deng to Cleveland late Monday night.
The Bobcats (15-23) have dropped three straight. Gerald Henderson had 30 points, and Kemba Walker scored 29.
