Jason Ozment scored 15 points to help lead the No. 3 Wheatmore boys past No. 2 Randleman 56-47 on Wednesday in the semifinals of the PAC-6 2A Conference tournament at Atkins.
A.D. Harris also scored 12 points while Brayton Hardin added eight for the Warriors (20-5), who will play T.W. Andrews in the finals on Friday night at 7:30 at Atkins.
“It was the defense,” Wheatmore coach David Spell said. “We played well on offense, but we played really good defense. They made some shots, but we talked about: It doesn’t matter if you foul out in the third quarter, first quarter — we wanted them to earn everything. And we felt like we did.”
Allen Goslen scored 13 points to lead Randleman, which led 12-8 after one quarter. Wheatmore outscored Randleman 16-7 in the second to lead 24-19 at halftime and rolled the rest of the way. Randleman cut the double-digit lead to six with a minute left but didn’t get closer.
“This was a big game,” Spell said. “We have one major goal, and that was to get ready to play the team we play that night and not worry. We felt like the other goals will take care of themselves. I think we did that.”
