Westchester falls in TAC tourney final; Southwest caps 24-0 regular season

TAC 2A TOURNAMENT FINALS
BURLINGTON — Second-seeded Burlington Christian slipped past top-seeded Westchester Country Day School for a 58-56 victory in the TAC 2A Tournament finals on Friday night.
Josh Burton and Justice Cuthbertson led the Wildcats (17-10) with 16 points apiece. Sadeeq Bello added 15.
Westchester opens NCISAA 2A state tournament play on Tuesday. Site, opponent and time are to be announced.
Also Friday, the TAC announced its all-conference boys hoops team. Burton, a senior, was named player of the year. Bello and Cuthbertson joined him on the all-league team.

SW GUILFORD, PARKLAND
WINSTON-SALEM — Southwest Guilford’s boys completed an undefeated regular season with an 88-67 romp past Parkland on Friday night.
Terrell Leach led the Cowboys (24-0, 12-0 PTC 4A) with 22 points. K.J. Langley added 19 points and Ben Ferguson 11 for Southwest.
Parkland (0-11 league) was led by Derez Poole with 20 points.

LEDFORD, ASHEBORO
ASHEBORO — Courtney Callicutt pumped in 19 points to spark Ledford’s girls to a 57-32 Mid-Piedmont 3A Conference win over Asheboro in the regular-season finale for both schools on Friday night.
Leigh Midkiff added 10 points and five rebounds for the Panthers, while Brie Grier tallied nine points and six steals and Emmalee Thomas finished with nine points and four rebounds.

BISHOP, WEST STOKES
KING —  Julia Brown, Olivia DeFrancesco and Cameron Nieters combined for 34 points, all in the first half, as Bishop McGuinness’ girls defeated West Stokes 54-42 on Friday night.
Bishop’s girls improved to 16-7, 13-3. West fell to 9-13, 5-11.
DeFrancesco finished with 14 points, Brown 13 and Nieters seven.
Bishop’s girls (#2 seed overall) host a Northwest 1A/2A conference tournament game on Monday at either 6:30 or 7 (depending on if there is doubleheader or not) vs. an opponent TBA (#7 seeded team).

TRINITY, CARVER
WINSTON-SALEM — Junior Jordan Parker made 4 first-half 3-pointers and scored 18 of her career-high 24 points in the first half as Trinity’s girls downed Carver 51-39 in the PAC-6 2A regular-season finale for both teams on Friday.
Trinity’s boys completed the sweep with a 53-36 triumph.
Noelle Butler added 10 points for the Bulldog girls (10-12, 6-4). Sage Earnhardt tallied nine. Trinity’s girls play Carver again on Tuesday at Atkins in the first round of the league tournament.
Brandon Earnhardt paced the Bulldog boys (19-3, 8-2) with 18 points and five rebounds. Jarrod Rogers added 16 points for Trinity, while David Newcomer scored seven points and Daniel Newcomer grabbed five rebounds.
Trinity’s boys earned a first-round PAC-6 2A tournament bye and will play in the semifinals at Atkins on Wednesday.

GLENN, EAST FORSYTH
KERNERSVILLE — East Forsyth’s Ashlyn Jones stole a pass and took it the length of the floor to put East Forsyth up 33-31 in the final minute of Friday night’s 37-34 PTC 4A win over Glenn.
Jones finished with 15 points for the Eagles. Deonna Young paced the Bobcats (12-11, 8-4) with 13 points and Ariahnna Claytor added 10.
