Trinity’s boys, Southern’s girls net wins
TRINITY, SOUTHERN GUILFORD
SUMNER – Trinity’s boys rallied for a 52-37 win over Southern Guilford on Friday night.
In the girls game, Southern netted a 43-36 win.
David Newcomer led the Bulldog boys (3-0) with 20 points, including six 3-pointers, while Jarred Rogers added 15 and Brandon Earnhardt had 12 for Trinity, which made 14 of 17 free throws in the fourth quarter.
Shamar McColl, Jaqwan McCauley and Jalen Seegars led the Storm (0-3) with nine points each.
Sage Earnhardt led the Bulldog girls (1-2) with 14 points, while Angelica Conroy added eight points, 10 rebounds and three blocks, Casey Davis grabbed seven rebounds and Jordan Parker had six steals.
Southern’s girls led 18-17 at halftime.
Southern plays host to Trinity plays at Providence Grove on Thursday.
SW GUILFORD, SE GUILFORD
GREENSBORO – Terrell Leach poured in 22 points, five rebounds and four assists and Ben Ferguson added 17 points as Southwest Guilford’s boys rolled past Southeast Guilford for a 78-45 win in the Cowboys’ season opener.
The Falcons were led by Mike Bass’s 22 points. D.J. Chamblee pitched in 10 points for the Cowboys.
EAST DAVIDSON, LEDFORD
WALLBURG – Madison Hallman scored 14 points and grabbed six rebounds as East Davidson’s girls edged Ledford 44-35 on Friday night.
Lori Morgan notched 13 points and seven rebounds for the Golden Eagle girls, while Bayley Plummer had 11 points and 11 boards.
Courtney Callicutt led the Panther girls with 11 points and five rebounds. Jada Bell grabbed nine rebounds for Ledford.
WHEATMORE, SW RANDOLPH
TRINITY – Jason Ozment tallied 20 points and Madison Fountain added 18 as Wheatmore’s boys cruised past Southwestern Randolph for a 69-40 victory on Friday night.
In the girls game, Kaila Craven pumped in 27 points and Katelyn Doub added 22 as the Cougars won 82-66.
Anthony Harris chipped in 13 points for the Warrior boys.
Taylor Walker scored a game-high 29 points for the Warrior girls (2-2), while Kylie Welborn tallied 14.
Wheatmore plays at Providence Grove on Monday.
R.J. REYNOLDS, GLENN
WINSTON-SALEM – R.J. Reynolds girls notched a 48-28 win at Glenn on Friday night.
The Bobcat boys secured the split with a 69-63 triumph.
Ciani Bryon led the Demon girl (2-1) with 16 points.
For the Bobcat girls (1-2), Deonna Young led the way with 12 points.
Yiannis Bowden led the way with 29 points for the Bobcat boys, while Domonique Archer added 16.
THOMASVILLE, NORTH DAVIDSON
WELCOME – Joslyn Spires, Christina Coleman and Timber Tate scored 14 points apiece as the Thomasville girls opened the season in fine fashion, topping North Davidson 60-43 on Friday.
The Bulldogs led 39-25 at halftime.
Thomasville plays at Greensboro Smith on Monday, Dec. 10.
WESTMINSTER CHRISTIAN, WESTCHESTER
HIGH POINT – Westminster Christian rallied from a 15-point halftime deficit to edge Westchester Country Day School 68-65 in boys action on Friday night.
In the girls game, Westchester netted a 29-25 victory. Meghan Ingram led the Wildcats with 19 points.
Sadeeq Bello and Josh Burton scored 22 points each to lead the Wildcats (2-4), who led 37-22 at halftime. Bruno Becca added nine points for WCDS, while Justice Cuthbertson had eight.
Westchester plays host to Calvary Baptist on Tuesday.
JAMESTOWN – Page’s boys turned back Ragsdale for a 65-60 victory on Friday night.
Joseph Bryant led the Tigers (1-2) with 28 points, while Dylan Willis had nine points and Daniel Kanakanui added 10 rebounds and six points. The Pirates improved to 1-1.
Ragsdale plays host to Western Guilford on Monday.
VILLAGE CHRISTIAN, WESLEYAN
HIGH POINT – Village Christian Academy’s girls topped Wesleyan Christian Academy 44-26 on Friday night.
Anna Massey led the Trojans (3-2) with 16 points.
In the JV girls game, Village Christian won 67-62. Faith Price led Wesleyan (1-1) with 20 points, while Nicole Mackey had 15, Sarah Bailey 12 and Bailey McCrae 10.
HP CENTRAL BOYS 50, ASHEBORO 39
HIGH POINT – High Point Central’s boys outlasted Asheboro 50-39 in a game played Thursday night at Southwest Guilford.
HP CENTRAL 45, GRIMSLEY 27
HIGH POINT – High Point Central turned back Grimsley 45-27 in action late Thursday.
Winners for the Bison (1-0) were Mark Hairston at 106, Connor Sutphin at 113, Kyle Rogers at 126, Michael Verdi at 132, Luke Bean at 138, Bryan Baccus at 170, Zach McLean at 195, Donte Ingram at 220 and Adam Olsen at 285.
Central competes in the Chair City Classic at Thomasville High today.

HIGH POINT - Southwest Guilford’s girls and boys topped Southeast Guilford in late swimming action.
The Cowgirls won 166-94, while the Cowboys prevailed 180-52.
Winners for the Cowgirls were the 200 medley relay of Kylie Jones, Vicki Tsakas, Jessica Daniel and Meredith Stringfellow in 2:10.19; the 200 free relay of Daniel, Tsakas, Thompson and Jones in 1:57.39; Lauren Overton in the 200 free in 2:25.07; Jones in the 200 IM in 2:38.2 and the 500 free in 6:12.59; Erin Thompson in the 50 free in 28.54; Daniel in the 100 fly in 1:09.8 and the 100 back in 1:12.44; Tsakas in the 100 free in 1:03.81 and the 100 breast in 1:21.06; and the 400 free relay of Kennedy Hill, Brittany Turner, Elin Oom and Overton in 4:42.91.

AT SALEM ACADEMY
WINSTON-SALEM - Westchester Country Day’s boys won three events at a meet that involved eight teams on Thursday.
Charlie Branson of the Wildcats took the 100 freestyle in 58.07. Christian James finished first in the 500 free with a time of 5:19.49. The 200 freestyle relay team of Branson, Jacob Breece, Luca Lagemann and James won in 1:47.95.
