Stormy weather alters prep schedule

GENERAL

Wednesday’s stormy weather forced several changes to the prep sports schedule.
Here are the postponements and rescheduled games we knew about at press time:

POSTPONEMENTS
* RAGSDALE — Basketball at home vs. Parkland has been moved to Monday, Feb. 4 at 6 p.m.
* BISHOP McGUINNESS — Wrestling at South Stokes has been postponed to today at 7 p.m.
* ANDREWS/TRINITY — Wrestling at Andrews has been rescheduled for Feb. 6 at 7 p.m.
* SW GUILFORD — Basketball at Southern Alamance has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 6 p.m.
* LEDFORD — Basketball at home against Eastern Randolph has been postponed, as Davidson County Schools cancelled all after-school activities.
* GLENN — Wrestling tri-meet at Providence Grove has been postponed, as Forsyth County Schools cancelled all after-school activities.

BASKETBALL

SW GUILFORD, NW GUILFORD
HIGH POINT — The Southwest Guilford girls stayed perfect in the Piedmont Triad 4A Conference with a 55-29 win Tuesday against visiting Northwest Guilford.
Briana Burgins had 18 points for the Cowgirls (12-5, 6-0 PTC) while Kennedy Porter had 13 and Jenea Rogers had 10. Southwest led 14-2 after one quarter and 22-11 at halftime.
The Cowgirls play again Friday at rival Ragsdale.

NEW HOPE GIRLS, MILLER
Breahanda Stratton scored 13 points to lead New Hope Christian Academy’s girls to a 49-28 victory over Miller on Tuesday. Lucky Rudd added seven points for the Phoenix (23-1).

SWIMMING

TRINITY GIRLS RULE PAC-6 POOL
ASHEBORO - Trinity’s girls captured the PAC-6 Open Conference title at Asheboro YMCA last week.
The Bulldogs’ relay team of Jessica Draughn, Polly VanAusdall, Renee Hapeman and Elizabeth Adkins won the 200 meter medley relay, the 200 meter freestyle relay and the 400 meter freestyle relay. Morgan Davis won in the individual events for Trinity.
