Ledford sweeps Southwestern Randolph
Ledford’s girls shot 58 percent from the field and rolled 64-39 over Southwestern Randolph in Mid-Piedmont 3A Conference play on Tuesday.
Leigh Midkiff and Brie Grier each scored 15 points for the Panthers while Courtney Callicutt added 10. Ledford bolted to a 20-9 lead after the first quarter and led 35-14 at the half.
The Panthers play host to Eastern Randolph tonight.
In the boys game, Ledford held the Cougars to four points in the second half and posted a 58-24 win.
Brandon Rothrock scored 21 to lead the Panthers (7-10, 1-4 MPC). Skyler McGree had 10.
EAST FORSYTH, RAGSDALE
JAMESTOWN – Ragsdale held on for a 27-26 girls victory over East Forsyth on Tuesday. Godwin Dooley led the Tigers with seven points while Jasmine Williams had six.
Ragsdale led 9-4 after one quarter and also led by five at the half and at the end of the third quarter.
EAST DAVIDSON, SALISBURY
SALISBURY – Salisbury’s girls built a six-point lead by the end of the second quarter and went on to stop East Davidson 63-57 in a Central Carolina 2A Conference game on Tuesday.
Bayley Plummer led East with 18 points and 27 rebounds while Mdi Hallman added 11 points. Brielle Blair topped the Salisbury scoring with 28.
TRINITY – Trinity’s boys rolled to a 58-34 PAC6 win over Carver on Tuesday.
Jared Rogers led the Bulldogs (13-3, 2-2) with 18 points. Brandon Earnhardt had 10 while Davbid Newcomer added nine points and grabbed 13 rebounds.
In the girls game, Trinity led Carver 32-16 with 6:48 left in the fourth quarter when the game was stopped due to a serious injury to a Carver player.
Noelle Butler had eight points, five rebounds and four assists to lead the Bulldogs while Casey Davis added seven points, seven rebounds and four steals, and Jordan Parker and Sage Earnhardt each followed with five points.
Trinity hosts Randleman on Friday.
HIGH POINT – Southwet Guilford routed Northwest Guilford 80-44 on Tuesday in a key PTC 4A matchup. Terrell Leach led the Cowboys (17-0, 6-0) with 17 points.
WINSTON-SALEM – Deonna Young scored 21 points and led Glenn to a 68-23 rout of Parkland in Piedmont Triad 4A Conference girls action on Tuesday.
Young scored 11 of her 21 points in the first quarter as the Bobcats went up 22-3. Glenn (10-8, 6-1 PTC) held the Mustangs (5-13, 1-6) to single digit scoring in each quarter and led 33-11 at the half and 50-19 after three quarters.
Ariahanna Cosby added 12 for Glenn while Dominique Claytor had nine points, 11 rebounds, seven assists and five steals.
Glenn faces Northwest Guilford on Thursday.
BISHOP, SURRY CENTRAL
MOUNT AIRY – Bishop McGuinness overcame a second-half rally by Surry Central and posted a 58-52 Northwest 1A/2A boys basketball victory on Tuesday.
Down by nine in the first quarter, the Villains led 28-24 at halftime. Surry regained the lead with a 8-0 run before Bishop reeled off 12 straight points to take control for good.
Nick Efird led Bishop (10-5, 5-4 NWC) with 15 points, followed by 13 from Tucker Crews and 12 by Kevin Weckworth.
Surry drops to 12-6, 3-6
