Cowboys turn back Red Raiders

HIGH POINT — Southwest Guilford broke open a close game in the third quarter and stopped T. Wingate Andrews 71-61 on Wednesday night.
Leading by two at the half, the Cowboys sprinted to a 10-point lead early in the third quarter and went up by as many as 14 on the way to their sixth straight win over the Red Raiders.
K.J Langley led Southwest with 16 points and D.J. CHamblee added 15. Marquez Welch scored 21 to top Andrews as Chris Eatmon added 11,

CLEMMONS — West Forsyth squeezed out a 57-52 nonconference win over Glenn on Wednesday night.
West enjoyed a nine-point lead after the first quarter. But. Glenn cut the margin to four at the half and three at the end of the third quarter.
Dequan CLemons scored 12 points and Yiannis Bowden grabbed 12 rebounds for Glenn (2-2).

HIGH POINT — T.Wingate Andrews held on for a 47-43 victory over Southwest Guilford on Wednesday night.
The Red Raiders led by seven after the first period and by 12 at the half, after holding the Cowgirls to two points in the second quarter.
Brie Grier led Andrews (2-2) with 14 points, followed by October Campbell with 12 and Sahmisha Farabee with 10.
Briana Burgins led Southwest (3-2) with 14. Kennedy Porter had 12  and Jenea Rogers 10.

WALLBURG — Courtney Callicutt scored  18 points. grabbed seven rebounds and five steals to help Ledford cruise to a 47-26 victory over visiting Trinity on Wednesday.
Ledford’s defense also came up with 18 steals. Julia Carroll added eight points for the Panthers, who improve to 3-1 and go to rival East Davidson on Friday.
Jordan Parker scored nine points for Trinity. She also topped 1,000 points for her career and was awarded the game ball.

Bishop McGuinness swept both portions of a tri-meet with Atkins and East Surry on Wednesday night
Bistop took the boys meet with 180 points. Atkins was second with 80 and East Surry third with 75.

JAMESTOWN — Ragsdale topped visiting Smith and Grimsley in dual-team matches on Wednesday.
The Tigers blanked Smith 76-0 and took care of the Whirlies, 46-18.
Ben Hamm (120), Hunter Whipple (126), Aaron Reeves (170), Devon Jacques (182), Byrce Walker (195) and Kelvin Johnson (285) won two matches at the same weight class for the Tigers.
Jacob Glasgow won at 132 against Smith and 138 against Dudley. Anthony Pierzchala won at 138 against Smith and 145 against Dudley. Brandon Harris won at 145 against Smith and 152 against Dudley.
Dylan Cook won at 106 with Darien Bell prevailed at 113 against Smith, but there were double forfiets at those weights in the Dudley match. Dillon Zomparelli was Ragsdale’s winner at 152 against Smith, and Zack Hendrick won at 160 for the Tigers against the Eagles.


ROBBINS — Thomasville rolled to a pair of wrestling victories on Wednesday night. The Bulldogs shut out host North Moore 82-0 and pinned Jordan-Matthews, 74-6.
Two time winners for the Bulldogs included Ray-shawn Moore, Qyghee Martin, Jason Boutsady, Ahsan Butt, Corbin Wilson, Trevor Billie, Kyrie Colson, Brett Hokenson, Evan Makeupson, Kailon Nratten, Anthony Brisano, Keith Clemmons, and Tybrius Ivory. Reggie Rogers and Fleix Hernandez score a victory each.
Thomasville hosts the six-team Bobby Lloyd Classic on Saturday.

HIGH POINT  — Pamara Clark of High Point Central qualified for the NCHSAA state indoor track meet in two events in action Wednesday at Southwest Guilford.
Clark qualified by finishing the 55-meter dash in  7.6 seconds and running the 300 meters in 40.06.
