Davis, Red Raider girls roll
T.W. ANDREWS, NORTH DAVIDSON
WELCOME – Santia Davis netted 25 points as the T.W. Andrews girls cruised past North Davidson for a 73-48 nonconference win on Friday night.
Imani Watkins added 16 points for the Red Raider girls (12-1), while October Campbell had 11 points and Shamisha Farabee had nine.
Andrews opens PAC-6 2A play at Atkins on Friday.
HP CENTRAL, NW GUILFORD
GREENSBORO — Northwest Guilford’s boys edged High Point Central 53-49 in PTC 4A action on Friday night.
Germaine Pratt finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Bison (6-7, 1-1). Juwan Foggie tallied 11 points and 10 rebounds for Central, while Jamal Thompson had 10 points and three steals.
BISHOP, EAST SURRY
KERNERSVILLE – Sidney Mosley scored 16 points as East Surry’s girls downed Bishop McGuinness 43-35 in Northwest 1A/2A Conference action Friday.
Keri Fulp added 11 points for the Cardinals (11-1, 5-1).
East went 9-for-12 from the free-throw line to close the game after Bishop (7-4, 4-1) had cut an eleven point deficit to two (34-32).
Olivia DeFrancesco led the Villains with 10 points.
Bishop plays host to North Surry on Tuesday.
WESLEYAN, PROVIDENCE DAY
CHARLOTTE – Providence Day’s girls netted a 63-22 win over Wesleyan Christian Academy on Friday.
Holland Robinson led the Trojan girls (6-7) with 13 points. Anna Massey added five.
LEXINGTON, EAST DAVIDSON
THOMASVILLE – East Davidson’s scored four points in the final 2.6 seconds to rally past Lexington for a 54-53 win on Friday night.
Trailing 53-50, East’s Jennifer Welborn scored to cut the lead to 1 at 53-52 with 2.6 seconds left to play. Lexington threw the ball out of bounds on the inbound play, giving East the ball, still with 2.6 seconds to go. Bayley Plummer made a backdoor cut and laid the ball in as time expired to give the Eagles the 54-53 victory.
Plummer finished with 21 points, 8 blocked shots, and 8 rebounds, while Welborn had 18 points and 8 rebounds for the Golden Eagles. Leading scorers for Lexington were Jasmine Carter with 27 and Alexis Fowler with 12.
GLENN, NORTH FORSYTH
WINSTON-SALEM – Glenn’s Deonna Young completed a 3-point play with a free throw to score her 1,000 career point with 7:20 to play in the 2nd quarter as the Bobcat girls tripped North Forsyth 68-10 on Friday.
Young finished with 21 points for the Bobcats (6-7). Ariahnna Cosby tallied 17 points and Domimique Claytor had 16.
WESTCHESTER, TRINITY DURHAM
DURHAM – Sadeeq Bello led a balanced attack with 20 points as the Westchester Country Day School’s boys topped Trinity Durham 65-51 on Friday night.
In the girls game, Kellie Schaefer scored 24 points as Trinity Durham edged Westchester 39-33.
Josh Burton added 13 points for the Wildcat boys (5-9, 2-0), while Justice Cuthbertson had 12 and Bruno Beca 10.
Kayla Darr led the Wildcat girls with nine points, while Meghan Ingram added eight and Lea Rasenberger had six.
Westchester plays host to Salem Baptist on Tuesday.
NEW HOPE CHRISTIAN GIRLS 76, CAROLINA DAY 50
ASHEVILLE – Katherine Harris scored 15 points, Lucky Rudd tallied 14 and Sarah Beal added 11 as the New Hope Christian Academy girls downed Carolina Day 76-50 on Friday.
Beal also dished six assists for New Hope (14-1). Paris Johnson finished with nine points for New Hope.
THOMASVILLE 65, CENTRAL DAVIDSON 18
THOMASVILLE – Ten Thomasville wrestlers prevailed by pin as the Bulldogs defeated Central Davidson 65-18 in the Central Carolina 2A Conference opener for both schools on Friday night.
The Bulldogs (19-2, 1-0) got pinfall wins from Q. Martin at 106, Ashan Butt at 120, Louis Dupree at 126, Corbin Wilson at 132, Brett Hokenson at 138, Luke Williams at 145, Evan Makupson at 160, Aaron Reeves at 170, Keith Clemmons at 195 and Tequan Williams at heavyweight. Luke Williams secured his 100th career victory with Friday’s win.
Thomasville’s Jason Boutsady won by technical fall at 113.
Thomasville wrestles in the 12-team Grimsley Duals today starting at 9 a.m.
EAST DAVIDSON 46, LEXINGTON 33
HIGH POINT – East Davidson opened its Central Carolina 2A Conference schedule with a 46-33 victory over Lexington on Thursday.
Winners by pin for East were Danyl Wurdemann (106 pounds), Gaqe Love (132), Brad Hutchins (152), Bryce Barnard (160). Chase Robison (170), Bryce Bolen (182) and Devan Hadock (220). Joe Navarro won by major decision at 138.
East (8-8) will next see action when it plays host to Thomasville on Jan. 17.
AT BENNETT COLLEGE
GREENSBORO — Ledford’s girls and boys posted wins over Northeast Guilford at Bennett College on Friday night.
The Panther girls prevailed 77-60, while the boys won 123-7.

HIGH POINT - Southwest Guilford prevailed 94-73 in the girls’ portion of a dual meet with East Forsyth on Thursday at the Kernersville YMCA.
Winners for Southwest: Lauren Overton (200 free and 500 free), Kylie Jones (200 IM), Erin Thompson (100 butterfly), Jessica Daniel (100 breaststroke) and the 200 Medley and 200 freestyle reach teams.
East’s boys triumphed, 101-55. Spencer Jordan, in the 100 backstroke, was the sole winner for the Cowboys.
AT SALISBURY YMCA
SALISBURY — East Davidson’s girls placed third in a swim meet late Thursday at Salisbury YMCA.
Lexington’s girls won with 138 points, followed by West Davidson with 116.5, East with 116 and Salisbury with 93.5.
East’s 200 girls medley relay consisting of Marina Moore, Carly Murphy, Lizzie Fitzgerald, and Katelyn Mouzon won in 2:29.47, while Lizzie Fitzgerald won the 200 IM in 3:06.65. The Golden Eagles’ Marina Moore won the 50 free in 26.76 and took the 100 free in 59.69.
East swims again Thursday at 3:30 at Lexington YMCA against Central Davidson.
