Duke, Davidson clash in Charlotte

Jan. 01, 2013 @ 06:49 PM

Forgive fans at Charlotte’s Time Warner Cable Arena if they look a little confused this evening.
They’ll be watching two teams with winning records.
Undefeated and top-ranked Duke battles Davidson at 7 p.m. from the home arena of the NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats. ESPN2 provides the live television coverage.
The Blue Devils stand 12-0 following Saturday’s 90-77 win over Santa Clara. The Wildcats improved to 7-5 with Saturday’s 70-64 victory at Richmond.
Most folks who attend games at Time Warner Cable Arena aren’t used to seeing the in-state squad win.
The Bobcats have lost nine straight home games as part of their streak of 18 losses in 19 games that includes Monday’s upset win at Chicago.
Charlotte (8-22) last won at home on Nov. 21, defeating Toronto 98-97.
The Bobcats did manage five home triumphs in November, but that must seem a lifetime ago to frazzled Charlotte fans.
I don’t know how many Bobcats’ season-ticket holders will be in attendance for tonight’s Duke-Davidson game.
Here’s hoping those that are savor the chance to view winning teams.
The Bobcats still have 24 home games left this season.
