Westchester’s boys remain perfect in TAC play
Westchester Country Day’s boys remained unbeaten in the TAC with a 74-61 victory over Gaston Day on Wednesday.
Sadeeq Bello scored 26 and hit three 3s to lead the Wildcats (14-9, 9-0 TAC), who went from leading by two at the half to enoying a nine-point cushion at the start of the fourth quarter.
Josh Burton added 17 while Justice Cuthbertson added 10 for the victors.
Gaston Day took the girls game, 40-30. Leigh Tyson led Westchester with 10 points. Anna Hood and Kayla Darr each added seven.
The Westchester Country Day boys won 66-44 at American Hebrew late Tuesday in TAC 1A/2A action.
Sadeeq Bello scored 27 points while David Ayodele had 12 and Kaymon Mitchell had six to lead the Wildcats.
Westchester goes to Salem Baptist on Friday.
BISHOP BOYS, EAST SURRY
PILOT MOUNTAIN — Kevin Weckworth’s elbow jumper in the closing seconds lifted Bishop McGuinness’ boys to a 45-43 Northwest 1A/2A Conference win at East Surry late Tuesday night.
Weckworth finished with 17 points, four steals and three steals for the Villains (11-8, 6-6). Tucker Crews tallied 10 points and four rebounds.
East fell to 13-6, 7-6.
Bishop plays host to South Stokes today.
THOMASVILLE GIRLS, EAST DAVIDSON
THOMASVILLE — Freshman Timber Tate scored 24 points and 10 rebounds as Thomasville’s girls topped East Davidson 56-51 late Tuesday.
Joslyn Spires added 22 points and six assists for the Bulldogs (14-4, 4-2 CCC 2A).
Jennifer Welborn led East with 18 points, while Miranda Cumpton had 10. Bayley Plummer grabbed 10 rebounds.
Two starters for East fouled out, and one had four fouls. Three Thomasville starters fouled out and the other two had four fouls. There were 48 fouls called with 60 free throws.
THOMASVILLE 75, LEXINGTON 6
THOMASVILLE – Thomasville celebreated Senior Night by slamming Lexington 75-6 on Wednesday to finish 5-0 in the Central Carolina 2A Conference.
Winners for the Bulldogs included Q. Martin (106 pounds), Jason Boutsady (113), Ahsan Butt (120), Te Dupree (126), Corbin Wilson (132), Brett Hokenson (138), Luke Williams (145), Darius Broadie (152), Evan Makupson (160), Aaron Reeves (170), Gabe Brockett (182), Keith Clemmons (195), Anthony Vrisano (220).
Thomasville hosts the conference tournament on Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m.
T.W. ANDREWS 37, TRINITY 32
HIGH POINT – T. Wingate Andrews edged Trinity 37-32 in a PAC-6 dual match on Wednesday.
Winners for Trinity included Tyler Myers by decision at 126 pounds, Robert Reid by forfeit at 132 pounds, Brandon Sparks by decision at 138 pounds, Alex Guevera by technical fall ay 145 pounds, James Ryan by forfeit at 150, Dakota Helmstetler by decision at 182 and Chass Delgado by forfeit at heavyweight.
Results for Andrews were not reported.
Trinity plays host to Carver today. It will be Senior Night for the Bulldogs.
EAST DAVIDSON 52, SALISBURY 19
THOMASVILLE – East Davidson turned back visiting Salisbury 52-19 in Central Carolina 2A action Wednesday.
Winning by pin for the Golden Eagle were Jose Navarro at 145 and at Brad Hutchins 160. Winning by decision for East were Bryce Bolen at 182 and Logan Ware at 195. Bryce Barnard won by major decision at 152. Chris Coble (113), Cody Hussey (120), Guiliano Postek (126), Gage Love (132), and Josh Elliott won by forfeit. East finished 3-2 in conference 10-10 overall and will wrestle in conference tournament at Thomasville on Sat.
WHEATMORE 43, CHATHAM CENTRAL 30
TRINITY – The Wheatmore wrestling team defeated Chatham Central 43-30 late Tuesday.
Winning for the Warriors were Tyler Patrick (106), David Niemitello (120), Easton Auman (126), Jason Hamby (132), Thomas Deese (145), Lauren Zimmerman (152), Bailey Le (182), Skyler Hicks (195) and Travis Doyle (220).
The Warriors (17-5, 4-0 PAC-6) travel to Andrews today.
