Thomas sinks 10 3-pointers as Ledford girls roll
LEDFORD, WEST DAVIDSON
TYRO – Emmalee Thomas drilled 10 of 13 3-pointers as Ledford’s girls rolled to a 78-31 nonconference win over West Davidson on Tuesday night.
Thomas finished with 32 points for the Panthers, who led 27-8 after the first quarter and never looked back. Brie Grier added 11 points for Ledford, while Jada Bell had eight points and seven rebounds. Leigh Midkiff and Sydney Stroud each recorded four steals for the Panthers, who had 21 steals as a team.
Callie Herman paced the Green Dragons with 19 points.
Ledford’s boys completed the sweep with a 40-39 victory.
Ledford plays host to Trinity today.
SW GUILFORD, WESTERN GUILFORD
GREENSBORO – Jenea Rogers pumped in 18 points as Southwest Guilford’s girls topped Western Guilford 46-37 on Tuesday night.
Terrell Leach exploded for 36 points as the Cowboys made it a clean sweep for the home team with an 88-62 win.
Michael Bryant added 12 points and Tyliek Brister 11 for the Southwest boys (4-0). Styles Freeman led Western with 14 points.
Briana Burgins and Kennedy Porter added six points each for the Cowgirls (2-4), who led 16-1 after the first quarter.
Letricia Smith led Western with 11 points.
Southwest plays at Northwest Guilford on Friday.
WHEATMORE, EAST DAVIDSON
THOMASVILLE – East Davidson’s girls turned back Wheatmore 73-45 on Tuesday night.
The Warrior boys secured the split with a 71-55 triumph.
Jennifer Welborn led the Golden Eagles with 21 points, while Bayley Plummer had 17 points and 16 rebounds and Lori Morgan added 11 points.
Taylor Walker led the Warriors (2-8) with 14 points. Kylie Welborn added 13 points for Wheatmore, while Davey Alberston had nine and Casey Hawkins netted six.
Madison’s Fountain’s 17 points led the Warrior boys (8-0). Marshall Lange added 14 points for Wheatmore, while Anthony Harris had 13, Jason Ozment nine and Braydon Hardin eight.
East goes to Ledford on Friday, while Wheatmore plays host to West Davidson.
In Tuesday’s jayvee girls game, East posted a 53-18 win, Jessica Ferguson led the Golden Eagles with 16 points.
BISHOP MCGUINNESS, SOUTH STOKES
WALNUT COVE – Freshman Danielle Nieters poured in 13 points as Bishop McGuinness’ girls defeated South Stokes 53-22 in Northwest 1A/2A Conference action on Tuesday night.
South’s boys took the nightcap, 54-45.
Julia Brown added 12 points for the Villain girls (4-1, 3-0), who led 31-9 at halftime. Tia Cappuccio tallied nine points for Bishop, which plays at Winston-Salem Prep on Thursday.
Kevin Weckworth led the Villain boys (4-1, 2-1) with 17 points, while Nick Efird added 10 points and five assists and Tucker Crews had 11 rebounds and eight points.
South’s boys improved to 5-2, 1-1.
WINSTON-SALEM –Mikayla Pettyjohn and Godwin Dooley scored 10 points each as Ragsdale’s girls downed Parkland 43-35 on Tuesday night.
The Tiger boys completed the sweep with a 70-57 triumph. James Stepp paced Ragsdale’s boys (4-2, 1-0 PTC 4A) with 18 points. Joseph Bryant added 17.
The Tiger girls (2-5) led 10-9 at halftime, then took command with a 20-point outburst in the third period.
Ragsdale visits Western Guilford today.
SOUTHERN GUILFORD, TRINITY
TRINITY – Sage Earnhardt led a balanced attack with 17 points, three rebounds, one steal and one assist as Trinity’s girls downed Southern Guilford 56-42 on Tuesday night.
The undefeated Bulldog boys completed the sweep with a 56-40 win.
Angelica Conroy added 12 points, eight boards and a block for the Bulldogs (3-3), while Jordan Parker tallied 11 points, four steals, three assists and two rebounds. Noelle Butler (7 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals), Elizabeth Adkins (5 points), Casey Davis (7 rebounds, 3 points, 2 blocks) and Savannah Woolard (2 points) contributed to the Bulldog cause.
Hailey Chandler paced Southern’s girls with 17 points and Aeriel Ellis added eight.
In the boys game, Trinity’s David Newcomer tallied a game-high 21 points, while teammate Jarred Rogers added 13 and Brandon Earnhardt had 11. The Bulldogs improved to 6-0.
Trinity visits Ledford today.
GLENN, NORTHWEST GUILFORD
GREENSBORO – Deonna Young tallied 17 points, three assists and two steals as Glenn’s girls defeated Northwest Guilford 53-47 in Piedmont Triad 4A Conference action on Tuesday night.
Dominique Claytor finished with 13 points, three assists and two steals for the Bobcats (4-3, 1-0).
Northwest fell to 0-5, 0-1.
T.W. ANDREWS, THOMASVILLE
THOMASVILLE – Shamisha Farabee scored nine points, including the game-winning putback at the buzzer, as T.W. Andrews’ girls edged Thomasville 49-47 on Tuesday night.
Imani Watkins led the Red Raiders (6-0) with 14 points. October Campbell added 11 for the Raiders, who led 29-23 at halftime.
Andrews plays host to Thomasville on Friday night.
WESLEYAN GIRLS 31, SALEM BAPTIST 30
WINSTON-SALEM – Wesleyan Christian Academy’s girls used a 9-5 edge in the fourth quarter to rally for a 31-30 win at Salem Baptist late Monday.
Holland Robinson led the Trojans (5-5) with 15 points, while Jessica Willard added 8 and Anna Massey had five.
